Chaos synchronization via sliding modes
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2001In this paper, an observability approach to the synchronisation of chaotic systems is presented. The proposed method allows for the reconstruction of a chaotic attractor from a scalar signal and its derivatives, and it refers to output feedback control techniques for uncertain nonlinear systems.

WEIGHTED SLIDING EMPIRICAL MODE DECOMPOSITION
Advances in Adaptive Data Analysis, 2011The analysis of nonlinear and nonstationary time series is still a challenge, as most classical time series analysis techniques are restricted to data that is, at least, stationary. Empirical mode decomposition (EMD) in combination with a Hilbert spectral transform, together called Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT), alleviates this problem in a purely ...

Discrete sliding-mode-based differentiators
2016 14th International Workshop on Variable Structure Systems (VSS), 2016Sliding-mode-based differentiators of the input f(t) of the order k yield exact estimations of the derivatives f(1), … f(k), provided an upper bound of |f(k+1)(t)| is available in real time.Practical application involves discrete noisy sampling of f and numeric integration of the internal variables between the measurements. The corresponding asymptotic

State constrained sliding mode controllers
Proceedings of the 1998 American Control Conference. ACC (IEEE Cat. No.98CH36207), 1998Develops a sliding mode controller in the presence of inequality constraints on the system state variables. State constraints may arise in many situations, such as limitations on allowable position and speed for the case of mechanical systems. A formal framework for the controller synthesis presented, and a validation using a spacecraft attitude ...

High‐order sliding mode control design based on adaptive terminal sliding mode
International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, 2011SUMMARYHigh‐order sliding mode control techniques are proposed for uncertain nonlinear SISO systems with bounded uncertainties based on two different terminal sliding mode approaches. The tracking error of the output converges to zero in finite time by designing a terminal sliding mode controller. In addition, the adaptive control method is employed to

Neural Networks Learning With Sliding Mode Control: The Sliding Mode Backpropagation Algorithm
International Journal of Neural Systems, 1999Based on the classical backpropagation weight update equations, sliding mode control theory is introduced as a technique to adapt weights of a multi-layer perceptron. As will be demonstrated, the introduction of sliding mode has resulted in a much faster version of the standard backpropagation.

In this chapter, sliding mode control (SMC) is designed for spatial control of Advanced Heavy Water Reactor (AHWR). Nonlinear system of AHWR has 90 states, 18 outputs, and 5 inputs. When linearized, the model is observed to be highly stiff. Therefore, direct application of the control method to the full-order system results into numerical ill ...

Sliding Mode Control with Nonlinear Sliding Surfaces
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1996Abstract Traditional sliding mode controllers use linear sliding surfaces, which might not fit the global dynamic property of nonlinear plants. As a result, sliding may not take place due to actuator saturation and even instability may be induced when the error is large.

The sliding mode control approach is recognised as an efficient tool to design robust controllers for complex high-order nonlinear dynamic plant operating under uncertain conditions. The research in this area was initiated in the former Soviet Union about 40 years ago, and the sliding mode control methodology has subsequently received much more ...
