An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Sliding Mode Control of a Class of Hybrid-Switched Systems with Disturbances

open access: yesMathematics
This paper investigates the problem of sliding mode control for a class of hybrid switched systems with matching disturbances. Firstly, a sliding mode surface is designed, and the corresponding sliding mode equation for the switched system is derived ...

Sliding mode disturbance observer and sliding mode controller for quadrotor UAV

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2022
Abstract The dynamics of quadrotor UAV is described considering internal uncertainty and external disturbance. The control system of quadrotor UAV is divided into inner loop attitude control system and outer loop position control system, In order to solve the problem of underactuated character.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Design and implementation of double-integral sliding-mode controller for brushless direct current motor speed control

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2017
This article presents a double-integral sliding-mode controller with an adaptive proportional–integral–derivative observer for brushless direct current motor speed controller. First, an integral sliding-mode control is designed based on the motor dynamic

Disturbance Observer-Based Control to Guarantee a Sliding Mode Without Sliding Mode Control

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
This paper presents a novel disturbance observer (DOB)-based control method to prevent the deterioration of transient response due to disturbances. The proposed method uses sliding mode dynamics without a sliding mode control (SMC) structure and does not

Design and frequency analysis of continuous finite-time-convergent differentiator

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper, a continuous finite-time-convergent differentiator is presented based on a strong Lyapunov function. The continuous differentiator can reduce chattering phenomenon sufficiently than normal sliding mode differentiator, and the outputs of ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.
