Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Asymptotic convergence of the solution for singularly perturbed boundary value problem with boundary jumps

The article is devoted to study of boundary value problem with boundary jumps for third order linear integro-differential equation with a small parameter at the highest derivatives, provided that additional characteristic equation’s roots have opposite ...

Improved estimators for the shape parameter in gamma regression [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
A regression model is considered in which the response variables have gamma distributions with a common shape parameter. A review is given of existing estimators for the shape parameter.

Topological Phase Transitions from Harper to Fibonacci Crystals

open access: yes, 2018
Topological properties of Harper and generalized Fibonacci chains are studied in crystalline cases, i.e., for rational values of the modulation frequency.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Economical Numerical-Analytical Method for Calculating Three-Dimensional Deformations of Elastic Pipes of Variable Cross Section

In this paper it is shown that the problem of quasistatic three-dimensional stress-strain state of elastic pipes of a variable cross-section under the influence of internal pressure can be solved economically and quickly by a numerical-analytical rapid ...

A boundary jumps phenomenon in the integral boundary value problem for singularly perturbed differential equations

The article is devoted to the study of the asymptotic behavior of solving an integral boundary value problem for a third - order linear differential equation with a small parameter for two higher derivatives, provided that the roots of the "additional ...

Existence and Stability of Periodic Solutions for Reaction-Diffusion Equations in the Two-Dimensional Case

Parabolic singularly perturbed problems have been actively studied in recent years in connection with a large number of practical applications: chemical kinetics, synergetics, astrophysics, biology, and so on. In this work a singularly perturbed periodic

The small parameter method in the optimisation of a quasi-linear dynamical system problem

We consider an optimisation problem for the transient process in a quasi-linear dynamical system (contains a small parameter at non-linearities) with a performance index that is a linear combination of energy costs and the duration of the process.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
