Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Opening the Ecosystem Flood Gates: Architecture Challenges of Opening Interfaces within a Product Portfolio

open access: yes, 2015
Technology rms are increasingly opening up their products to develop an active ecosystem of developing partners around it. Both opening up products and organizing a developer ecosystem around an or- ganization are non-trivial.

Energy Efficiency in the ICT - Profiling Power Consumption in Desktop Computer Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Energy awareness in the ICT has become an important issue. Focusing on software, recent work suggested the existence of a relationship between power consumption, software configuration and usage patterns in computer systems.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Architectural patterns regarding web application domain usability

open access: yesIngeniería e Investigación, 2010
Usability is one of the quality characteristics having the greatest impact on final user acceptation in a web application context. However, the relationship between usability and software architecture has not been completely identified and characterised.

Design Patterns for Wrapping Similar Legacy Systems with Common Service Interfaces

open access: yes, 2006
Web Services are increasingly being used to create a wide range of distributed systems, many of which involve legacy software. Developing service interfaces for these legacy systems can be difficult, as for interoperability reasons it is advantageous to ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Software and Application Patterns for Explanation Methods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Deep neural networks successfully pervaded many applications domains and are increasingly used in critical decision processes. Understanding their workings is desirable or even required to further foster their potential as well as to access sensitive domains like medical applications or autonomous driving.
