The synthesis of an analogue of the locust CRF-like diuretic peptide, and the biological activities of this and some C-terminal fragments.

open access: yes, 2003
The synthesis is described of an analogue of the locust CRF-like diuretic peptide in which methionine in positions 1,3, and 13 is replaced by isosteric methyl-homoserine residues.

Design and Synthesis of Peptide‐Polyester Conjugates for Cell‐Mediated Scaffold Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work describes polycaprolactone (PCL)‐based biomaterials engineered to degrade in response to cell‐secreted proteases. A fast‐degrading peptide (Fast) sequence is integrated into a PCL conjugate backbone to produce a biomaterial that is selectively degraded by multiple cell types compared to its scrambled control (ScrFast).

One‐Step Microfluidic Manufactured Fucose‐Decorated Sweetosomes Choose the Time and the Road for Their Intracellular Journey to Cancer Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Sweetosomes, a new class of fucose‐decorated liposomes, are developed via a one‐step microfluidic process without surface chemistry. This study elucidates their main caveolae‐mediated entry and distinct endosomal trafficking. These nanostructures demonstrate superior endosomal escape, organelle acidity modulation, and prolonged plasma persistence ...

Design and synthesis of modified peptide antibiotics of the vancomycin family [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The ability of bacteria to constantly evolve new methods of resistance to antibacterial therapies represents a constant challenge in medicine. Emergence of strains of enterococci and S. Aureus that show resistance to vancomycin is an alarming phenomenon,

The Synthesis of Phosphopeptides Using Microwave-assisted Solid Phase Peptide Synthesis

open access: yes, 2008
A series of phosphorylated peptides were synthesised using microwave mediated solid phase peptide synthesis. Acidic cleavage of peptides from the solid support using microwave irradiation often resulted in reattachment of the phosphate benzyl protecting ...

Functional Blood‐Brain Barrier Crossing by Biomimetic M13 Phage Vectors for Targeted Neuronal Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the M13 bacteriophage as a biomimetic nanovector capable of crossing in vitro models of the blood–brain barrier. By exploiting peculiar transcellular pathways, M13 avoids lysosomal degradation and preserves its structural integrity and functionality.

Optimized Solid Phase-Assisted Synthesis of Dendrons Applicable as Scaffolds for Radiolabeled Bioactive Multivalent Compounds Intended for Molecular Imaging

open access: yesMolecules, 2014
Dendritic structures, being highly homogeneous and symmetric, represent ideal scaffolds for the multimerization of bioactive molecules and thus enable the synthesis of compounds of high valency which are e.g., applicable in radiolabeled form as ...

Solid-Phase Synthesis of Peptide−Viologen Conjugates

open access: yesThe Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2010
This paper presents a robust method for the conjugation of viologens to peptides using an amide coupling strategy that is compatible with standard Fmoc solid-phase peptide synthesis. Methodology is presented for monitoring the milligram scale process quantitatively by UV spectroscopy.

Solid-Phase Synthesis of Nannocystin Ax and Its Analogues

open access: yes, 2023
Solid-phase total synthesis of nannocystin Ax (1) was disclosed. A coupling reaction between a peptide and a polyketide moiety was conducted on a solid support, and macrocyclization was achieved by Mitsunobu cyclization.
