An Engineered Living Material With Pro‐Angiogenic Activity Inducible by Near‐Infrared Light

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
NIR‐responsive engineered living materials (ELMs) for controlled angiogenesis: Near‐infrared (800 nm) light activates engineered probiotic bacteria within alginate‐based living materials to secrete a blood vessel‐regenerating protein. The released protein promotes pro‐angiogenic effects in endothelial networks and chick chorioallantoic membranes.

Potential of ensiling for efficient management of spent residue from solid state fermentation system [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Studies on ensiling of spent solids from solid state fermentation process for production of cellulases by #Trichoderma harzianum$ showed that good quality ensiled solids can be obtained by using about 43% initial substrate dry matter with 0.3% ensiling ...

Shaping of Biohybrid Functional Living Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates a strategy for shaping living mycelium into functional materials by directing its natural growth. Nanoparticles armor hyphae, micron‐scale particles entangle within the network, and printed hydrogel architectures steer expansion, creating defined geometries.

Microenvironmental Reprogramming by 3D Anisotropic Cardiac Extracellular Matrix Induces Nuclear Remodeling and Epigenetic Maturation of Chemically Induced Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D anisotropic hydrogel derived from heart extracellular matrix guides cytoskeletal alignment and nuclear remodeling in reprogrammed cardiomyocyte‐like cells. This study reveals how matrix alignment modulates nuclear envelope dynamics and chromatin state, triggering transcriptional and functional maturation.

Control methods of ethyl carbamate and its precursors in Baijiu [PDF]

open access: yesZhongguo niangzao
Cyanide is a main precursor of ethyl carbamate (EC) in Baijiu, and dhurrin in sorghum is a main precursor of cyanide. In order to reduce the content of EC in Baijiu, four control methods of EC and its precursors in Baijiu were analyzed, including cyanide
