Soluble (pro)renin receptor in preeclampsia and diabetic pregnancies
Women with preexisting or gestational diabetes mellitus have an increased risk for developing preeclampsia. Diabetes and pregnancy are both characterized by very high prorenin levels and renin-angiotensin system activation. Prorenin bound to the (pro)renin receptor has enzymatic activity.

The (pro)renin receptor ((P)RR) and soluble (pro)renin receptor (s(P)RR) in pregnancy
Placenta, 2021The (pro)renin receptor ((P)RR) is a multi-functional protein that can be proteolytically cleaved and released in a soluble form (s(P)RR). Recently, the (P)RR and s(P)RR have become of interest in pregnancy and its associated pathologies. This is because the (P)RR not only activates tissue renin angiotensin systems, but it is also an integral component

Cleavage of the soluble (pro)renin receptor (sATP6AP2) in the placenta
Placenta, 2020The (pro)renin receptor (ATP6AP2) is cleaved and released as soluble ATP6AP2 (sATP6AP2). The sATP6AP2 is detected in plasma and urine and is elevated in women with gestational diabetes and preeclampsia. The source and cleavage pathway of sATP6AP2 in pregnancy is unknown.

The prorenin receptor ((P)RR) contributes to the regulation of the tissue renin-angiotensin system (RAS) and the function of V-ATPase, which are essential for Wnt signaling. Thus, (P)RRs may be involved in the control both of feto-placental and maternal circulation during pregnancy. This study was conducted to clarify how placental (P)RR expression and

Soluble (Pro) Renin Receptor is a Predictor of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus
Current Diabetes Reviews, 2017Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a common endocrine complication in pregnancy. While it has been established that age, family history of diabetes, insulin resistance and several biomarkers are associated with GDM but significant gaps remain in understanding risk factors for GDM.

Serum level of soluble (pro)renin receptor is modulated in chronic kidney disease
Clinical and Experimental Nephrology, 2013Prorenin, the precursor of renin, binds to the (pro)renin receptor [(P)RR] and triggers intracellular signaling. The ligand binding sites of (P)RR are disconnected and are present in the soluble form of the receptor in serum. Given that the clinical significance of serum prorenin and soluble (P)RR in chronic kidney disease (CKD) is unclear, we ...

Elevated Plasma Soluble (Pro)renin receptor as a potential indicator for heart failure
PeptidesIncreasing evidence has demonstrated that sPRR [a truncated soluble form of (pro)renin receptor] levels may reflect the severity of several diseases, including kidney disease, hypertension, and heart failure (HF). Although previous studies using cohorts primarily consisting of HF patients with reduced ejection fraction revealed that increased plasma ...

The (pro)renin receptor and soluble (pro)renin receptor in choriocarcinoma
Reproduction, 2021Abstract This study aimed to determine if the (pro)renin receptor (ATP6AP2) changes the cellular profile of choriocarcinomas from cytotrophoblast cells to terminally syncytialised cells and ascertain whether this impacts the invasive potential of choriocarcinoma cells.

The Soluble (Pro)Renin Receptor in Health and Diseases: Foe or Friend?
The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, 2021The (pro)renin receptor (PRR) is a single-transmembrane protein that regulates the local renin-angiotensin system and participates in various intracellular signaling pathways, thus exhibiting a significant physiopathologic relevance in cellular homeostasis.

Association of Soluble (Pro) Renin Receptor with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus
Endocrine Practice, 2015There is a need to identify biomarkers for gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Recently the soluble pro-renin receptor (s[Pro]RR) has been shown to be associated with GDM. We investigated the association of s(Pro) RR levels in Asian Indians with GDM.We recruited 222 pregnant females, 147 without GDM (non-GDM) and 75 with GDM visiting antenatal clinics
