Toward Sustainable Carbonylation Reactions Enabled by CO Surrogates in Green Solvents

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 13, 14 July 2026.
Carbonylation reactions offer a sustainable route to valuable carbonyl compounds. This review highlights methodologies that exploit carbonylative coupling to drastically enhance process sustainability, avoiding the direct use of CO through CO surrogates and promoting syntheses in green solvents potentially derived from renewable and sustainable sources.

Restoring Iron Homeostasis via Smoothened Inhibition: A Novel Strategy Against Hearing Loss

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 29, 22 May 2026.
. ABSTRACT Sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) induced by noise or aminoglycoside antibiotics is a significant public health concern without any FDA‐approved pharmaceutical therapies. Dysregulation of iron homeostasis and its subsequently induced ferroptosis has increasingly been identified as a key mechanism underlying cochlear hair cell (HC) damage ...

The safety and efficacy of sonidegib for the treatment of locally advanced basal cell carcinoma

open access: yes, 2016
Introduction: Basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) are the commonest malignancy in the Western world. Locally advanced BCCs (laBCCs) represent tumours that have developed in difficult-to-treat facial sites, aggressively recurrent tumours, large neglected tumours

Integrated Molecular Profiling Improves Subtype Classification and Reveals Inherited Susceptibility in Medulloblastoma: Insights From a Real‐World Cohort

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Medulloblastoma (MB) is a heterogeneous pediatric brain tumor characterized by distinct molecular subtypes. Although genomics and transcriptomics have improved subtype classification and informed targeted therapies, the clinical utility of integrated molecular profiling in real‐world settings remains incompletely defined. Methods We

Long-term efficacy and safety of sonidegib in patients with advanced basal cell carcinoma: 42-month analysis of the phase II randomized, double-blind BOLT study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Background: Basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) exhibit aberrant activation of the hedgehog pathway. Sonidegib is a hedgehog pathway inhibitor approved for the treatment of locally advanced BCC (laBCC) and metastatic BCC (mBCC) based on primary results of the ...

Targeting Tumor Stroma: Current Challenges and Future Directions

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
Figure 1. Mechanism of ECM reprogramming. Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs), cancer‐associated macrophages (CAMs), and other mesenchymal cells alter the ECM composition and increase its stiffness by depositing matrix components such as collagen and hyaluronic acid, and secreting cross‐linking agents like lysyl oxidase homolog 2 (LOXL2).
