PEG Alternatives in Liposomal Nanocarriers: Physicochemical Characteristics and Sustainable Process Strategies

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The global trend toward sustainable and intensified bioprocesses is driving innovation in the design and scalable synthesis of liposomal nanocarriers, a cornerstone of modern drug delivery. For decades, these nanosystems have relied exclusively on polyethylene glycol (PEG) for their sustained circulation in vivo, but they are currently ...

Characterization of two, desiccation linked, Group 1 LEA proteins from the resurrection plant Xerophyta humilis

open access: yes, 2011
Studies on resurrection plants and other anhydrobiotic organisms show expression of Late Embryogenesis Abundant (LEA) proteins associated with desiccation tolerance. However, the precise role of these proteins has not been described.

Additives Enhancing Biodegradability in Plastics and Potential Implications for Textiles: A Mechanistic Review

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Mechanistic insights from additive‐assisted plastic degradation guide the design of environmentally adaptive textile fibers. Functional additives enhance oxidative, hydrolytic, enzymatic, and microbial degradation pathways. Translating these strategies requires control of fiber architecture, additive distribution, and environmental interactions ...

Hypersensitivity pneumonitis caused by soybean antigens

open access: yes, 1995
Since 1929, when it was first introduced in infant diets, soybean has been described as a cause of a varibty of allergic reactions (i.e., urticaria, angioedema, gastrointestinal symptoms, asthma, and anaphylaxis).

Quantum Phenomena in Molecular and Biological Systems: A Decoherence‐Based Decision Framework With Falsifiable Predictions and a Failure‐Mode Taxonomy

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
A physics‐grounded framework based on decoherence timescales (τ_dec vs τ_func), Markovian validity, and falsifiability criteria is applied across molecular systems to distinguish where quantum effects are necessary, marginal, or irrelevant. The analysis integrates quantum chemistry, biological quantum mechanisms, and quantum computing under a unified ...

Physiological and biochemical responses of soybean seedlings (Glycine max L.) to α-tocopherol treatment under salt stress

open access: yesБіологічні студії
Background. Salinity is one of the most important factors affecting the growth and productivity of plants. It creates stressful conditions for legumes at the initial phases of ontogenesis.

Dual Functions of Dietary Rubber Seed Oil Supplementation: Enriching N‐3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids and Enhancing Antioxidant Capacity in Pekin Ducks

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Dietary RSO supplementation improved growth performance, simultaneously enriched n‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n‐3 PUFA), and enhanced antioxidant capacity in Pekin ducks, which suggested that RSO has the potential to be a novel n‐3 PUFA source and an antioxidant for Pekin ducks to generate animal functional foods.

Dietary Baicalin Supplementation Can Enhance the Growth Performance of Weaned Piglets and Maintain the Intestinal Barrier Integrity

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This research innovatively illustrates baicalin’s multifaceted mechanisms in enhancing piglets’ intestinal health: modulating bile acid metabolism via probiotics, reinforcing tight junction proteins (ZO‐1/claudin), suppressing TLR4/NF‐κB‐mediated inflammation, whereas promoting growth and reducing diarrhea.
