2002Spermatogonial stem cells originate from primordial germ cells (PGCs) that derive from epiblast cells (embryonal ectoderm) (Lawson and Pederson 1992). During fetal development the PGCs proliferate and migrate to the genital ridges, where they become enclosed in the seminiferous cords formed by Sertoli cell precursors.
