Sphingomyelin Liposomes Containing Porphyrin-phospholipid for Irinotecan Chemophototherapy

open access: yesTheranostics, 2016
Porphyrin-phospholipid (PoP) liposomes can entrap anti-cancer agents and release them in response to near infrared (NIR) light. Doxorubicin, when remotely loaded via an ammonium sulfate gradient at a high drug-to-lipid ratio, formed elongated crystals ...

Post‐Translational Modified Neoantigens in Autoimmune Diseases: Challenges of Immune Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Autoimmune diseases have a high incidence and disability rate. The pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases involves the interaction among genetic factors, environmental factors, and immune disorders. The post‐translational modified neoantigens are the key nodal of these three factors. And these post‐translational modified neoantigens, after being presented

Apolipoprotein A-I promotes cholesterol release and apolipoprotein E recruitment from THP-1 macrophage-like foam cells

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1999
Apolipoprotein E (apoE) is synthesized and secreted by arterial macrophages while apolipoprotein A-I (apoA-I) is present in surrounding interstitial fluids.

Glycolytic Enzyme HK2 Phosphorylates nSMase1 to Promote Astrocytic Exosomes Biogenesis Contributing to Acute Ischemic Stroke Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the glycolytic enzyme HK2 mediates hypoxia‐induced astrocytic exosome biogenesis by directly phosphorylating nSMase1. These astrocytic exosomes impair brain endothelial tight junctions. Astrocyte‐specific knockdown of HK2 reduces exosome release and alleviates brain injury after MCAO.

Capsaicin Alleviates Autophagy‐Lysosomal Dysfunction via PPARA‐Mediated V‐ATPase Subunit ATP6V0E1 Signaling in 3xTg‐AD Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Capsaicin enhances lipid metabolism, reduces lipid deposition, and alleviates AD‐related pathologies. Capsaicin activates PPARA, promoting the expression of PPAR signaling pathway‐related genes and accelerating lipid metabolism. Capsaicin upregulates ATP6V0E1‐V‐ATPase‐mediated lysosomal acidification, enhancing lipid droplet clearance. PPARA is the key

Ceramide from sphingomyelin hydrolysis induces neuronal differentiation, whereas de novo ceramide synthesis and sphingomyelin hydrolysis initiate apoptosis after NGF withdrawal in PC12 Cells

open access: yesCell Communication and Signaling, 2022
Plain English summary Ceramide and sphingomyelin reportedly are important both for differentiation of nerve cells and for their death. We studied PC12 cells, which can differentiate into neuron-like cells in the presence of nerve growth factor and cells ...

Sphingomyelin generated by sphingomyelin synthase 1 is involved in attachment and infection with Japanese encephalitis virus

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2016
Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) is a mosquito-borne RNA virus which infects target cells via the envelope protein JEV-E. However, its cellular targets are largely unknown.

Red Blood Cell Membrane Lipidomics: Potential Biomarkers Detecting Method for Plasma Volume Overload and Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events in Chronic Heart Failure Patients

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel RBC indicator, ESI, is better than the traditional RBC indicators and is associated with CHF prevalence and in‐hospital death. RBC membrane lipidomics, Cer 18:0;O2/16:0, and LPE 18:0, are associated with plasma volume overload and MACE in CHF patients, but these plasma lipids could not.

Quantification of major classes of Xenopus phospholipids by high performance liquid chromatography with evaporative light scattering detection

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2000
Lipid signaling has become a major research area of cell biology and there is a need for methods that accurately and easily measure substrates and products of lipases involved in cell signaling.

Staurosporines decrease ORMDL proteins and enhance sphingomyelin synthesis resulting in depletion of plasmalemmal phosphatidylserine

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2016
Accumulation of phosphatidylserine in the inner leaflet of the plasma membrane is a hallmark of eukaryotes. Sublethal levels of staurosporine and related compounds deplete phosphatidylserine from the plasma membrane and abrogate K-Ras signaling. Here, we
