Life‐History, Stress‐Resistance, and Transcriptomic Variation Among a Mexican Caenorhabditis elegans Isolate and Contemporary and Ancestral N2 Lineages

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 10, October 2026.
We compared a recently isolated wild strain of Caenorhabditis elegans from Mexico City (VJV2) with the contemporary standard N2 Lab strain and the cryopreserved N2 Ancestral lineage. The strains differed in lifespan, fertility, and survival under pathogen, oxidative, and heat stress.

Sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor gene, SPPR

open access: yes, 2011
A novel sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor gene, herein termed sppr, and its splice variants. Sppr is up-regulated in LGL and is useful, for example, in the diagnosis and treatment of certain lymphoproliferative, neurodegenerative and autoimmune ...

Tripartite Interplay of Epithelial, Immune, and Microbiota Dysregulation in Crohn's Disease: Mechanisms and Translational Strategies

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Crohn's disease (CD) is a multifactorial inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) characterized by impaired epithelial barrier integrity, excessive immune hyperactivation, and gut microbiota perturbations. Cumulative evidence supports the role of the intestinal epithelial barrier, immune system and gut microbiota in the progression of CD ...

The Microbiome in Glioblastoma: Mechanisms, Tumor–Immune Interactions, and Translational Perspectives

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, October 2026.
Proposed microbiome‐related pathways and translational landscape in glioblastoma. Gut dysbiosis may alter microbial metabolites, inflammatory mediators, barrier integrity, immune signaling, and vagal communication, thereby influencing the GBM neuroimmune microenvironment.

The Sleeping Giant: Metabolism and Autophagy in the Generation and Survival of Dormant Polyploid Giant Cancer Cells

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
Polyploid giant cancer cells (PGCCs) arise in response to stress and play a critical role in therapy resistance and tumor dormancy. These cells can evade conventional treatments and later contribute to cancer relapse by generating progeny through nonmitotic, amitotic mechanisms.

G Protein‐Coupled Receptor in High‐Altitude Diseases: Mechanistic Insights and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
High‐altitude hypobaric hypoxia activates multiorgan GPCR signaling networks that regulate ventilatory responses, cerebral endothelial barrier integrity, erythropoiesis and red blood cell metabolism, pulmonary vascular remodeling, and cardiac adaptation. Dysregulated GPCR pathways contribute to acute and chronic high‐altitude diseases, while clinically

Immune‐Cell Dynamics in the Tumor Microenvironment: Implications for Cancer Therapy

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
Immune‐cell dynamics in the tumor microenvironment converge on four major barriers to effective therapy: failed immune access, defective antigen visibility and priming, loss of effector maintenance, and suppressive tissue remodeling. These barriers emerge from local hypoxic, cytokine, metabolic, and stromal signals.

Dapagliflozin Attenuates NKCC2 Protein Expression and Alleviates Diabetic Kidney Disease in Salt Loaded‐Hypertensive Diabetic Db/Db Mice

open access: yesFASEB BioAdvances, Volume 8, Issue 10, October 2026.
In salt‐loaded, hypertensive diabetic db/db mice with diabetic kidney disease, dapagliflozin lowered blood pressure and reduced tubular and glomerular injury. Mechanistically, dapagliflozin increased cullin E3 ligase abundance, promoting degradation of NKCC2.

Sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 1/5 selective agonist alleviates ocular vascular pathologies

open access: yesScientific Reports
Ocular abnormal angiogenesis and edema are featured in several ocular diseases. S1P signaling via S1P1 likely is part of the negative feedback mechanism necessary to maintain vascular health.

Role of Extracellular Vesicles in Shaping Immune Responses in the Lymph Node Microenvironment

open access: yesBiology of the Cell, Volume 118, Issue 10, October 2026.
Functional alliances of stromal, innate and adaptive immune cells in EV immunity in the lymph node. EV reflect the phenotype of their mother cell and cluster material from their surroundings. In the lymph node, EV preserve valuable context information between multiple cellular effectors to coordinate immunity in adaption to change.
