The Next Chapter of Human‐Like Tactile Perception: Neural Decoding to Embodied Intelligence

open access: yesSmartSys, Volume 2, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The field of tactile perception is transitioning from phenomenological analysis to integrated application and creation. To develop intelligent and embodied tactile capabilities, it is necessary to move beyond the traditional view of touch as a passive input channel and instead understand it as an active closed‐loop computational process.

European Interdisciplinary Guidelines on Pain Management in Acute Pancreatitis: UEG, EPC, EDS, ESDO, EAGEN, ESPGHAN, ESGAR, and ESPCG Evidence‐Based Recommendations

open access: yesUnited European Gastroenterology Journal, Volume 14, Issue 5, June 2026.

Variations in the Spinothalamic Tract in Man

Journal of Neurosurgery, 1957
T UlS is a report of two cases that illustrate the variability of the pain pathways in the spinal cord of some individuals. Standard textbooks of neuroanatomy 3,5,6 give descriptions and present diagrams indicating that the pain pathway in the spinal cord in man is a discrete bundle of fibers, known as the spinothalamic tract, located in the ...

The human spinothalamic tract: lessons from cordotomy

open access: yesBrain Communications
Abstract The spinothalamic tract has long been known as a primary conductor of nociceptive information, with its anatomical and physiological understanding evolving over centuries of research. This comprehensive review traces the history of the spinothalamic tract beginning with Brown-Sequard’s 1860 report of contralateral analgesia ...

The terminations of the spinothalamic tract in the cat

Neuroscience Letters, 1983
The termination sites of the spinothalamic tract (STT) in the cat have been examined using the anterograde transport of wheat germ agglutinin conjugated to horseradish peroxidase (WGA-HRP). Cats which received an injection of WGA-HRP at the spinal cervical level (C7-C8) displayed anterograde labelling in the ventral posterior lateral (VPL ...
