Regulation of adrenal scavenger receptor-BI expression by ACTH and cellular cholesterol pools
Scavenger receptor BI (SR-BI) mediates selective uptake of high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesteryl ester in the liver and adrenal gland. Adrenal SR-BI is increased both in adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH)-treated mice and also in apolipoprotein A-I ...

A compact eight‐channel electrically tunable varifocal metalens with three single‐layer polarization‐multiplexed bi‐focal metalens and three LC cells. The total thickness of the device is ∼6 mm, while the focal lengths can be switched among eight values (3.6, 4.2, 4.5, 4.9, 6.2, 6.9, 8.4, and 9.6 mm). ABSTRACT As an essential module of optical systems,

A novel optical thermometer exploits the rare UV emission of Yb2+ ions in a SrB4O7 host, enabling highly sensitive, non‐contact temperature measurements from 80 to 420 K. The applied multiple linear regression (MLR) analysis results in a multiple increase in the resulting temperature sensitivity.

The role of the high-density lipoprotein receptor SR-BI in cholesterol metabolism
The HDL receptor scavenger receptor class B type I (SR-BI), which mediates selective HDL cholesterol uptake, plays a role in murine HDL metabolism, reverse cholesterol transport and whole-body cholesterol homeostasis. SR-BI is found in the liver, where its expression is regulated by estrogen, dietary cholesterol and fat, and controls murine plasma HDL ...

Quantitative analysis of SR-BI-dependent HDL retroendocytosis in hepatocytes and fibroblasts [PDF]
Previous studies have suggested that HDL retroendocytosis may play a role in scavenger receptor class B type I (SR-BI)-dependent selective lipid uptake in a cell-specific manner. To investigate this possibility, we developed methods to quantitatively measure HDL uptake and resecretion in fibroblast (COS-7) and hepatocyte (HepG2) cells expressing ...

Defect‐configurational origins of the asymmetric apparent electrostrain are revealed in different piezoelectric ceramics via atomic‐scale visualization of defect configurations. Migration of oxygen vacancies leads to the electrobending effect in N2‐sintered BaTiO3, while defect dipoles in Ba0.99TiO2.99 generate true asymmetric electrostrain without ...
