Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Improving Sparse Representation-Based Classification Using Local Principal Component Analysis

open access: yes, 2018
Sparse representation-based classification (SRC), proposed by Wright et al., seeks the sparsest decomposition of a test sample over the dictionary of training samples, with classification to the most-contributing class.

ESSENTIAL ROLE OF LYN IN FIBROSIS

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2016
Fibrotic disorders involve replacement of normal parenchyma with myofibroblasts, which deposit connective tissue, leading to obliteration of the function of the underlying organ.

FGFR Like1 drives esophageal cancer progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and notch signalling: insights from clinical data and next‐generation sequencing analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Clinical analysis reveals significant dysregulation of FGFRL1 in esophageal cancer (EC) patients. RNAi‐coupled next‐generation sequencing (NGS) and in vitro study reveal FGFRL1‐mediated EC progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and Notch pathways. Functional assays confirm its role in tumor growth, migration, and invasion.

Extracting the Mass Dependence and Quantum Numbers of Short-Range Correlated Pairs from A(e,e'p) and A(e,e'pp) Scattering

open access: yes, 2015
The nuclear mass dependence of the number of short-range correlated (SRC) proton-proton (pp) and proton-neutron (pn) pairs in nuclei is a sensitive probe of the dynamics of short-range pairs in the ground state of atomic nuclei.

In Silico Analysis To Explore Novel Inhibitors For Human Proto-oncogene Tyrosine Protein Kinase Src [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The first oncogene and the first non receptor tyrosine kinase, Src, plays a key role in cell morphology, motility, proliferation and survival. Over expression of Src kinase activity disrupts the RAS pathway in signaling pathway, where it loses its ...

Interplay of Matrix Stiffness and c-SRC in Hepatic Fibrosis.

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2015
Introduction:In liver fibrosis activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSC) comprises phenotypical change into profibrotic and myofibroplastic cells with increased contraction and secretion of extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins.

Fluid and Neuroimaging Biomarkers in Microgliopathy Colony‐Stimulating Factor‐1 Receptor‐Related Disorders

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study aims to identify both fluid and neuroimaging biomarkers for CSF1R‐RD that can inform the optimal timing of treatment administration to maximize therapeutic benefit, while also providing sensitive quantitative measurements to monitor disease progression.

Water temperature as a natural tracer – a case study of the Malenščica karst spring (SW Slovenia)

open access: yesGeologia Croatica, 2010
For the adequate protection of karst springs it is important to understand the functioning of karst systems in their recharge areas. Besides tracer tests with artificial tracers, tracings with natural tracers, such as temperature, are a very useful ...
