Worldwide transmission of ST11-KL64 carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae: an analysis of publicly available genomes

open access: yesmSphere, 2023
ST11-KL64 is an internationally distributed lineage of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae and is the most common type in China. The international and interprovincial (in China) transmission of ST11-KL64 CRKP remains to be elucidated. We used both

Whole Genome Characterization of Klebsiella Strains in European Hedgehogs and Human Nosocomial Settings Identified Shared Sequence Types, Antimicrobial Resistance Genes and Plasmids

open access: yesZoonoses and Public Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Klebsiella pneumoniae is a pathogen associated with healthcare‐acquired infections and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) to beta‐lactams and carbapenems. Although wild animals are not typically exposed to antibiotics, they can harbour resistant strains. The European hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus) is increasingly found in urban areas,

Emergence of Ceftazidime‐Avibactam‐Induced KPC Variants (KPC‐25/127) in Intracranial Infection and Implications for Clinical Management

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 4, August 2026.
Novel KPC‐25 and first‐reported KPC‐127 sequentially evolved in one patient under CAZ‐AVI pressure, distinct mutations remodel enzyme activity to drive differential multidrug resistance. ABSTRACT The emergence of novel Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC) variants contributing to clinical treatment failure poses a substantial threat to public ...

Genetic factors related to the widespread dissemination of ST11 extensively drug-resistant carbapenemase-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae strains within hospital

open access: yesChinese Medical Journal, 2020
. Background. Carbapenemase-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae (CP-Kp) poses distinct clinical challenges due to extensively drug resistant (XDR) phenotype, and sequence type (ST) 11 is the most dominant blaKPC-2-bearing CP-Kp clone in China. The purpose of

Occurrence of Multidrug‐Resistant Salmonella spp. in Raw Meat Retailed in Wet Markets in Chattogram City, Bangladesh

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
Multidrug‐resistant Salmonella was detected in 13.5% of the raw meat samples in Chattogram, with resistance to multiple antibiotics and a high prevalence of the blaTEM gene. These findings highlight significant foodborne AMR risks and underscore the need for urgent One Health interventions to protect public health.

Ceftazidime–Avibactam in Combination with Imipenem as Salvage Therapy for ST11 KPC-33-Producing Klebsiella pneumoniae

open access: yesAntibiotics, 2022
A 22-year-old man, after a hematopoietic stem cell transplant, suffered long-term pneumonia caused by blaKPC-2-positive K. pneumoniae and blaKPC-33-positive K. pneumoniae alternately and finally achieved pathogenic clearance and improvement of clinical infectious conditions after using ceftazidime–avibactam in combination with imipenem as salvage ...
