Kinetic equivalence of stable-isotope-labeled and unlabeled phenytoin
Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 1981Stable isotope labeling (SIL) of a drug results in a higher molecular weight than that of the unlabeled drug. Pediatrics, 1999Stable isotope labeling (SIL) still has not been used very much in pediatric and perinatal clinical pharmacology. However, this method has numerous advantages. It allows one to determine the concentration of drugs with great sensitivity, thereby allowing quantification in small amounts of biologic samples.

Profiling of RNA modifications by multiplexed stable isotope labelling
Chemical Communications, 2014The combination of (15)N/(13)C stable isotope labelling (SIL) and LC-MS/MS revealed a total of 52 modifications in RNA from E. coli and yeast, including 10 previously undescribed modifications. Two modifications, N-ribosylnicotinamide and 2-methylthioadenosine, were newly detected in species hitherto thought not to contain these modifications.
