Stachyose Prevents Intestinal Mucosal Injury in the Immunosuppressed Mice

Starch - Stärke, 2020
AbstractStachyose (STA) is extracted from sugar beet and is used as a functional food. In this study, the effects of STA on immunosuppressed mice with intestinal mucosal damage induced by cyclophosphamide (CTX) are investigated. STA treatment can improve the amount of the leukocyte in the blood, the bone marrow cell density, and natural killer (NK ...

Stachyose and mannitol transport in olive (Olea europaea L.)

Planta, 1993
Source leaves of Olea europea L. (olive) were photosynthetically labelled with 14CO2 and then transferred to 20 mM EDTA solutions to allow exudation of phloem sap. Label in phloem sap was recovered predominantly as stachyose (50–60% of the total label) while only small amounts of label were recovered in the sugar alcohol mannitol (less than 5%).

Biotechnological process for producing black bean slurry without stachyose

Food Research International, 2009
Abstract Beans are important sources of proteins and other nutrients. However, stachyose and other oligosaccharides (RFOs) are present in this legume causing flatulence (H 2 , CO 2 and CH 4 ), abdominal pain, and diarrhea. The problematic digestibility of these sugars in the small intestine is attributed to a lack of α-galactosidase, which is ...

Localization of galactinol, raffinose, and stachyose synthesis in Cucurbita pepo leaves

Planta, 1992
The biochemical pathway of stachyose synthesis was localized by immunocytochemical and (14)C-labeling techniques in mature Cucurbita pepo L. leaves. Galactinol synthase (GaS; EC 2.4.1.123), the first unique enzyme in this pathway, was immunolocalized within the intermediary cells of minor veins in conventionally fixed and cryo-fixed, resin-embedded ...

Estimation of sucrose, raffinose and stachyose in soybean seeds

Food Chemistry, 1985
Abstract Oligosaccharides have been analysed in extracts of soybean seed meal by HPLC using the Waters Dextropak C 18 reversed-phase column. A procedure employing aqueous extraction of meal, and immediate analysis of extracts without further treatment except for ultrafiltration with a 25 000 molecular weight cut-off filter has been found much more ...

Physicochemical interaction mechanism between nanoparticles and tetrasaccharides (stachyose) during freeze-drying

Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 2017
Nanoparticle suspensions are thermodynamically unstable and subject to aggregation. Freeze-drying on addition of saccharides is a useful method for preventing aggregation. In the present study, tetrasaccharides (stachyose) was employed as an additive. In addition, we hypothesize the interactive mechanism between stachyose and the nanoparticles during ...

[Pharmacokinetic study on absorption of stachyose].

Zhongguo Zhong xi yi jie he za zhi Zhongguo Zhongxiyi jiehe zazhi = Chinese journal of integrated traditional and Western medicine, 2002
To study the intestinal absorption and absorption site of stachyose, one of the oligosaccharides extracted from Rehmannia, in mice and rats.Plasma concentration of stachyose was measured by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with postcolumn fluorescence derivatization after administration of stachyose to mice by oral or intravenous injection.

Selection of High Inorganic Phosphorus-Low Stachyose Soybean Breeding Lines

Journal of Crop Improvement, 2013
Soybean (Glycine max [L.] Merr.) seed stachyose and phytic acid are not digested by monogastric animals, and thus represent an obstacle for an efficient utilization of soybean meal in animal feed. The objectives of this research were to select breeding lines with high inorganic phosphorus (Pi)/low stachyose, along with adequate levels of sucrose, from ...

Distribution and immunolocalization of stachyose synthase in Cucumis melo L.

Planta, 1991
Indirect evidence for the site of stachyose biosynthesis has been provided by determining the occurrence and distribution of stachyose, raffinose and galactinol, the donor of the galactosyl moiety for stachyose synthesis, in Cucumis melo L. cv. Ranjadew.
