New Insight into the Effects of Endogenous Protein and Lipids on the Enzymatic Digestion of Starch in Sorghum Flour

open access: yesFoods
The effects of endogenous lipids and protein in sorghum flour on starch digestion were studied following the depletion of lipids and/or protein and after the reconstitution of separated fractions. The removal of protein or lipids moderately increases the

Combining phenotypic, physiological, and multi‐omics studies to provide new insights on the role of 2,4‐epibrassinolide in regulation of seed shattering in Elymus sibiricus L.

open access: yesGrassland Research, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Seed shattering limits the production of Elymus sibiricus L., and application of exogenous brassinosteroid significantly alleviates plant organ abscission. Methods To explore the potential regulatory network of brassinosteroid on seed shattering, the abscission zone of E. sibiricus cv. Lanyu No.

Sorghum Starch and Protein Digestibility: Mechanisms, Modifications, and Health Implications

open access: yesFoods
This review examines sorghum digestibility from molecular structure to clinical implications, focusing on compositional factors, processing methods, and health outcomes. We evaluate how sorghum’s unique protein–starch interactions influence digestibility

Extraction of amaranth starch from an aqueous medium using microfiltration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Amaranth starch granules are very small, which makes them suitable for a range of specialty applications. This starch is difficult to extract by wet milling due to the strong association between the starch and protein, the high protein content of the ...

Starch digestibility in the diabetic rat

open access: yes, 1991
The digestibility of a mixture of starches was evaluated in balance experiments, with both normal and streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats treated with antibiotics to prevent colonic fermentation of unabsorbed material.

Pasture feeding improves the fatty acid composition of lamb muscle

open access: yesGrassland Research, EarlyView.
The diet of lambs influences the nutritional quality of their meat. This study showed that pasture‐fed lamb contained significantly higher concentrations of beneficial omega‐3 fatty acids than lamb finished on concentrate diets. These long‐chain omega‐3 fatty acids are associated with improved cardiovascular health and other health benefits.

Comparison of Corn (Zea mays L.) Silage Hybrids for In Vitro Starch, Starch Digestibility and Tonnage. [PDF]

open access: yes
There has been a shift in the corn industry to breeding hybrids that are shorter and grain focused. This shift has left a need to find hybrids that can be utilized as silage hybrids for the purpose of feeding dairy cows.

A multilevel perspective on MSH6‐associated Lynch syndrome: Integrating molecular, biological, and clinical insights

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
Abstract Lynch syndrome (LS) is the most common hereditary colorectal cancer syndrome, caused by a germline pathogenic variant in one of the mismatch repair (MMR) genes. Among these, MSH6‐associated LS represents a distinct subtype with unique molecular and clinical characteristics.

Gut microbiome seasonality is associated with dietary plasticity and coexistence in three sympatric Pamir ungulates

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract outlines a multi‐omics framework investigating the seasonal dietary composition and gut microbial communities of three coexisting ungulate species inhabiting the extreme high‐altitude Pamir Plateau (Ovis ammon polii, Capra sibirica, and Pseudois nayaur). By integrating dietary DNA metabarcoding, 16S rRNA gene sequencing, shotgun
