STAT3 operates as a novel transcription factor that regulates NEDD4 in Keloid
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2019Keloid, marked by excessive deposition of extracellular matrix components, usually occurs after cutaneous trauma. The molecular mechanism involved in the etiology of keloid remains largely unknown in spite of extensive studies presented on the mechanism of Keloid.

Regulation and trafficking of the STAT3 transcription factor
2017The Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription (STAT) family of transcription factors plays crucial roles in regulating important cellular responses via the regulation of target gene expression. Of the seven members of the STAT family, STAT3 has attracted considerable research interest due to its activation by a range of extracellular stimuli and

Implication of STAT1 and STAT3 transcription factors in the response to superantigens
Cytokine, 2004The activation of STAT1 and STAT3 in response to SEB was analyzed in spleen of Balb/c mice. The intraperitoneal injection of the superantigen SEB activated STAT1 and STAT3 in spleen. Activated STAT1 almost completely disappeared in 24 h even though activated STAT3 was present for more than 48 h after SEB injection.

Constitutive activation of STAT3 plays important role in the pathogenesis of colorectal cancer (CRC). Inhibition of STAT3 has been proposed as a reasonable strategy to suppress CRC. Gamabufotalin (Gam), an effective bioactive compound of ChanChu, has been used for cancer therapy due to its desirable metabolic stability and less adverse effect. However,

ABSTRACT A novel protein, proteolysis‐inducing factor (PIF), has been isolated from the urine of patients with pancreatic cancer and is capable of inducing muscle proteolysis in vitro. Only adult skeletal muscle and liver exhibit substantial binding of PIF.

STAT1 and STAT3 Transcription Factors in Inflammation-associated Colon Cancer
2012Inflammation is a strong promoter of colorectal cancer formation. Colorectal tumor cells establish heterotypic interactions with inflammatory cells in the stroma that are important for tumor angiogenesis and invasiveness. Recent studies in genetically modified mice have identified transcription factors and signaling networks that are implicated in ...

Transcription Factor STAT3 As a Prognostic Marker and Therapeutic Target in Cancer
Journal of Clinical Oncology, 2013In the early 1990s, researchers identified a mechanism by which cytokines interacting with cell surface receptors could modulate gene expression in the nucleus. Using elegant genetic and molecular approaches, it was found that activation of these receptors leads to phosphorylation of a family of proteins now called STATs that then shuttle into the ...

Silibinin and STAT3: A natural way of targeting transcription factors for cancer therapy
Cancer Treatment Reviews, 2015Signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) is constitutively activated in many different types of cancer and plays a pivotal role in tumor growth and metastasis. Retrospective studies have established that STAT3 expression or phospho-STAT3 (pSTAT3 or activated STAT3) are poor prognostic markers for breast, colon, prostate and non-small ...

The transcription factor Stat3 is dispensable for pancreatic β-cell development and function
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2005The transcription factor Stat3 is activated by multiple cytokines, including leptin and those signaling through the gp130 receptor. In two independent studies, mice in which the Stat3 gene was inactivated using a RIP-Cre transgene led to glucose intolerance, defects in early-phase insulin secretion, and mild obesity [S.
