Txnip expression promotes JNK-mediated neuronal death in response to reactive oxygen species

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Neuroscience, 2023
TXNIP is a protein sensitive to oxidant conditions whose expression is related to the progression of death in cancer, diabetes, ischemia, and neurodegenerative diseases, among others. Because of this, many studies propose TXNIP as a therapeutic target in

Regulation of PDGFR-α in rat pulmonary myofibroblasts by staurosporine

open access: yes, 2001
Upregulation of the platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) receptor-α (PDGFR-α) is a mechanism of myofibroblast hyperplasia during pulmonary fibrosis.

CKAP4 Regulates ERS‐Induced Apoptosis in Osteoclasts Through FOXO3 in Periodontitis

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
CKAP4 promotes the transcription of PERK via FOXO3 in OCs, thereby facilitating ER stress‐induced apoptosis. In periodontitis, the reduction of CKAP4 in OCs leads to decreased OC apoptosis, which exacerbates alveolar bone resorption. ABSTRACT Periodontitis is a prevalent oral disease characterised by chronic inflammation and irreversible alveolar bone ...

Long‐read sequencing‐based atlas of tissue‐specific expression of DNM1L transcript variants

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Targeted long‐read sequencing resolves full‐length DNM1L (Drp1) isoforms and reveals conserved, tissue‐specific expression patterns across human and mouse tissues. Functional assays show that Drp1 isoforms differ in their ability to drive mitochondrial fission, independent of abundance, with specific exons modulating activity.

Association Between the Root Canal Microbiome and Apical Lesion Size: An Observational Shotgun Metagenomic Study

open access: yesInternational Endodontic Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim The aim was to characterize the taxonomic and functional composition of the microbiome involved in primary endodontic infections and to evaluate their association with the periapical lesion size using shotgun metagenomic sequencing. Methodology Samples from primary root canal infections diagnosed with apical periodontitis were analysed ...

Induction of Suicidal Erythrocyte Death by Cantharidin

open access: yesToxins, 2015
The natural phosphoprotein phosphatase inhibitor cantharidin, primarily used for topical treatment of warts, has later been shown to trigger tumor cell apoptosis and is thus considered for the treatment of malignancy. Similar to apoptosis of tumor cells,

Staurosporine and NEM mainly impair WNK-SPAK/OSR1 mediated phosphorylation of KCC2 and NKCC1.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
The pivotal role of KCC2 and NKCC1 in development and maintenance of fast inhibitory neurotransmission and their implication in severe human diseases arouse interest in posttranscriptional regulatory mechanisms such as (de)phosphorylation. Staurosporine (

Synthesis and Antitumor Activity of Staurosporine Derivatives

open access: yesNatural Product Communications, 2022
Twenty-four derivatives of staurosporine were synthesized by modification at the 3′- N , 3- and 7-positions. Of these compounds, 16 were synthesized for the first time and their structures were determined by NMR spectroscopy, ECD, and HRESIMS.

Staurosporine stimulates phospholipase D activation in human polymorphonuclear leukocytes

open access: yes, 1993
Treatment of 1-O-[3H]alkyl-2-acyl-phosphatidylcholine-prelabeled human polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) with Staurosporine (50 nM to 1 μM) induced a time- and concentration-dependent generation of tritiated phosphatidic acid (PA), reaching ...
