Synthesis of Novel BINOL Analogs: 3,3′‐Dicarbonyl‐1,1′‐binaphthyl‐4,4′‐diols as Precursors to the Uncharted 5,5′‐Binaphtho[2,1‐d]isoxazole

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
The parent 5,5′‐binaphtho[2,1‐d]isoxazole and its 3,3′‐dimethyl and 3,3′‐diphenyl derivatives are synthesized via condensation of the respective dicarbonyl compounds with hydroxylamine, followed by cyclodehydration of the resulting dioximes. The dicarbonyl precursors are obtained through 4‐ or 6‐step sequences from 1‐naphthol or 1‐naphthaldehyde ...

Cell‐Penetrating Poly(disulfide)s

open access: yesHelvetica Chimica Acta, EarlyView.
The first 10 years of cell‐penetrating poly(disulfide)s (CPDs) are reviewed comprehensively. CPDs are prepared by ring‐opening polymerization of cyclic disulfides. The many sidechain structures and diverse biological applications realized so far beyond the original arginines identify CPDs as the most popular current delivery system that operates with ...

A “One‐Pot” Metal‐Free Synthesis and Evaluation of Antiproliferative Activity of Diversely Functionalized Pyrrolidine‐2‐Ones

open access: yesJournal of Heterocyclic Chemistry, EarlyView.
A new “one‐pot” metal‐free stereoselective method for the synthesis of novel diversely functionalized pyrrolidine‐2‐ones from N‐alkyl‐ or N‐arylsulfonamidoacetophenones was developed. The majority of obtained compounds possess low micromolar antiproliferative activities.
