Advances in cholesterol and lipoproteins detection for healthcare: A review

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Cholesterol is one of the main biomarkers related to the development of cardiovascular diseases. Its detection still relies on traditional methods of analysis, such as gas and liquid chromatographies. Detection of free cholesterol in saliva with redox or enzymatic sensors or detection of lipoproteins in blood with aptamer sensors are currently the most

Stigmasterol-Based Novel Low Molecular Weight/Mass Organic Gelators

open access: yesMolecules, 2011
Conjugates consisting of stigmasterol and L-phenylalanine, interconnected through short-chained dicarboxylic acyls by ester and amide bonds, respectively, were synthesized as potential low molecular weight/mass organic gelators (LMWGs/LMMGs).

Studies on Relation between Solubilities of Stigmasterol and Non-Stigmasterol prepared from Soysterol

open access: yesJournal of Japan Oil Chemists' Society, 1963
Solubility measurement in organic solvents was applied on stigmasterol, non-stigmasterol and these mixtures. These results are given in tables and figures.Separation of stigmasterol from the sterols mixtures was found difficult by inoculation method. From these data, stigmasterol and non-stigmasterol showed a behavior like a solid solution in ...

Stigmasterol Alleviates Cutaneous Allergic Responses in Rodents [PDF]

open access: yesBioMed Research International, 2018
The therapeutic potential of stigmasterol, a natural steroid alcohol with established immune-modulatory properties, was assessed on allergic cutaneous responses. We examined its suppressive effect on immunoglobulin E (IgE)-mediated active cutaneous anaphylaxis (ACA), compound 48/80 (C48/80)-induced pruritus, and irritant dermatitis induced by 12-O ...

From pollen provision to pollinator: Species‐specific sterol assimilation by wild bees in urban landscapes

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Human‐driven landscape change, particularly urbanization, is reshaping pollinator communities, yet the functional traits that mediate species persistence remain poorly understood. Dietary specialization is commonly used to predict species vulnerability.

Control failure risk, resistance and enzymatic activity of neurotoxic insecticides in Brazilian populations of Leucoptera coffeella (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae)

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 6, Page 5757-5766, June 2026.
Bioassays of 36 Leucoptera coffeella populations revealed resistance to neurotoxic insecticides, control failures of ≤62.9% and enzyme activity variation, with particularly high GST and low AChE levels. Abstract Background Leucoptera coffeella is a key pest of coffee crops in Brazil, causing significant damage by mining coffee leaves.
