Carriage of the Laboratory of Genetics and Physiology Protein 2 Q425R Variant Reduces Liver Disease Severity in European Patients With Chronic Hepatitis Delta

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
In patients with chronic hepatitis Delta, the LGP2 Q425R variant (rs2074158 CC/CT genotypes), associated with an enhanced interferon response in vitro, becomes progressively less frequent as liver disease advances from no cirrhosis to cirrhosis, and to cirrhosis with progressive increase of portal hypertension evaluated by thrombocytopenia.

The immunological landscape of the area postrema in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
Aquaporin‐4 antibody‐positive neuromyelitis spectrum disorder is characterized by large tissue destructive lesions in medulla, spinal cord, and optic nerves, with only partial recovery from clinical symptoms, and by lesions with very little tissue destruction and mostly complete recovery from clinical symptoms, as seen in the area postrema ...

Histone deacetylase inhibitors as venetoclax‐sensitising partners in acute myeloid leukaemia: Mechanisms, pharmacology and translational perspectives

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Venetoclax combined with hypomethylating agents has improved treatment for older or unfit patients with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but resistance and relapse remain common. This review analyses the rationale for combining venetoclax with inhibitors of histone deacetylase (HDAC).

New Treatment Strategy and Future Research Direction for BRAF‐Mutated Cancer

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Treatment with BRAF inhibitor plus MEK inhibitor is currently used in BRAF‐mutated various malignancies except colorectal cancer, and treatments with BRAF and/or MEK inhibitors and anti‐EGFR antibody are used in BRAF‐mutated colorectal cancer. Despite recent advances in BRAF‐targeted therapies, their efficacy is still limited.

CaMKII-dependent non-canonical RIG-I pathway promotes influenza virus propagation in the acute-phase of infection

open access: yesmBio
Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII) is one of hundreds of host-cell factors involved in the propagation of type A influenza virus (IAV), although its mechanism of action is unknown.

Effects of retinoic acid on the incidence of neural tube defects and other malformations in mice with the quinky gene

open access: yes, 1992
Matings between normal young adult ac/ae female mice and heterozygous Quinky BALB/c males were used to study reported teratogenic and/or preventive effects of retinoic acid (RA) utilizing a mutation that produces neural tube defects (NTDs).

Long Non‐Coding RNA, Like NEAT1 and MALAT1, in Asthma: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Allergy, EarlyView.
Long non‐coding RNA, like NEAT1 and MALAT1, is emerging as a regulator of asthma‐related inflammation, airway remodelling, viral responses and cell death pathways, and are promising targets for future therapeutics. ABSTRACT Asthma affects millions worldwide. Long non‐coding RNA (lncRNA) are emerging as important factors in the pathophysiology of asthma

Lactate‐Primed NETosis Modulates Hepatic Regeneration During Acute Liver Failure via the TLR9/KLF15/AJUBA Axis

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
This study elucidates a novel Kupffer cell‐neutrophil‐hepatocyte axis that drives metabolic‐immune crosstalk during acute liver failure. Specifically, lactate‐primed NETs release links metabolic reprogramming to NETosis‐induced regenerative failure in hepatocytes via the TLR9/KLF15/AJUBA axis.

Sustained dysregulation of iron and glutathione homeostasis induces chronoferroptosis, a persistent ferroptotic adaptation in neuronal cells

open access: yesCell Death Discovery
Although iron accumulates in brain regions impacted by neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, how chronic elevated iron levels contribute to neuronal dysfunction remains unclear.
