Quality changes in cocoyam flours during storage

open access: yesFood Science & Nutrition, 2016
AbstractCocoyam tubers were subjected to two processing methods (fermentation and parboiling) and milled into flour. The samples were stored at 25°C, 35°C, and 45°C and analyzed at 2 weeks interval for 8 weeks for their nutritional, functional, and pasting properties. Data obtained were subjected to multiple analysis of variance. Storage period and its

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Understanding the mechanisms behind onion bulb dormancy in relation to the potential for improved onion storage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Onion (Allium cepa L.) is the most economically important Allium crop. Onion cultivars adapted for growth in temperate regions require long days for bulb initiation, so the summer crop is stored over-winter.

Effect of Cinnamaldehyde on Morphological Alterations of Aspergillus ochraceus and Expression of Key Genes Involved in Ochratoxin A Biosynthesis

open access: yesToxins, 2018
Ochratoxin A (OTA) is a potent nephrotoxic, hepatotoxic, and teratogenic compound which is a significant mycotoxin contaminates cereals during storage.

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Mechanisms leading to post-supply water quality deterioration in rural Honduran communities

open access: yes, 2005
Drinking water can become contaminated following its collection from communal sources such as wells and tap stands, as well as during its storage in the home.

A Non-Intrusive Load Decomposition Model Based on Multiple Electrical Parameters to Point

open access: yesEnergies
The sliding window method is commonly used for non-intrusive load disaggregation. However, it is difficult to choose the appropriate window size, and the disaggregation effect is poor in low-frequency industrial environments.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Storage of Hatching Eggs : Effects of storage and early incubation conditions on egg characteristics, embryonic development, hatchability, and chicken quality

open access: yes, 2010
Key words: egg storage, embryonic development, albumen quality, hatchability, chick quality It is well known that an increase in the storage duration increases incubation duration and decreases hatchability and chick quality.
