Das Diterpenoide Substratanalogon 19‐nor‐GGPP deckt ausgeprägte Methylgruppeneffekte bei Diterpencyclisierungen auf

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 136, Issue 6, February 5, 2024.

The Diterpenoid Substrate Analogue 19‐nor‐GGPP Reveals Pronounced Methyl Group Effects in Diterpene Cyclisations

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 63, Issue 6, February 5, 2024.
19‐nor‐Geranylgeranyldiphosphate (with a methyl group removed) has been synthesised and converted into diterpene analogues with 20 diterpene synthases. In some cases only the desmethyl derivatives of the natural enzyme products were obtained, but with several enzymes a dramatic change in the reactivity was observed.

Streptomyces global regulators AfsR and AfsS interact to co‐regulate antibiotic production and morphological development

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 17, Issue 1, January 2024.
Our findings clarify the molecular mechanisms underlying functions of regulatory proteins AfsR and AfsS in Streptomyces antibiotic production and development, which are based on direct control of their target genes associated with these two important biological processes.

Streptomyces clavuligerus strain selection for clavulanic acid biosynthesis: a study based on culture composition effects and statistical analysis

open access: yesDyna, 2018
The clinical and industrial importance of clavulanic acid (CA) promotes the search for novel strategies to boost productivity at lower costs. In this contribution, the production of CA was evaluated in two reference strains of Streptomyces clavuligerus ...

Molecular Analysis of the Clavulanic Acid Regulatory Gene Isolated from an Iranian Strain of Streptomyces Clavuligerus, PTCC 1709 [PDF]

open access: yesCell Journal, 2011
Objective: The clavulanic acid regulatory gene (claR) is in the clavulanic acid biosyntheticgene cluster that encodes ClaR. This protein is a putative regulator of the late steps ofclavulanic acid biosynthesis.

SYNTHESIS OF BENZYLPENICILLIN BY CELL-FREE EXTRACTS FROM STREPTOMYCES CLAVULIGERUS

open access: yesThe Journal of Antibiotics, 1986
Cell-free enzyme concentrates from Streptomyces clavuligerus were found to convert phenylacetyl-L-cysteinyl-D-valine (PCV) directly into benzylpenicillin when incubated under reaction conditions which support the activity of isopenicillin N synthetase.

Overproduction of clavulanic acid by extractive fermentation

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Biotechnology, 2015
Background: Clavulanic acid is an important beta-lactamase inhibitor produced as a secondary metabolite by the actinomycete Streptomyces clavuligerus. Clavulanic acid is chemically unstable; therefore, it is degraded during bacterial cultivation. In this

Insights into additional lactone-based signaling circuits in Streptomyces: existence of acyl-homoserine lactones and LuxI/LuxR homologs in six Streptomyces species

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Acyl-homoserine lactones (AHLs), mediating pivotal physiological activities through quorum sensing (QS), have conventionally been considered limited to Gram-negative bacteria.

Preparation and characterization of PCL-PEG-PCL polymersomes for delivery of clavulanic acid

open access: yesCogent Medicine, 2016
The Clavulanic acid (CLV) is a suicide inhibitor of bacterial beta-lactamase enzymes from Streptomyces clavuligerus. In the present study, a reliable drug delivery system using poly (ε-caprolactone)-poly (ethylene glycol)-poly (ε-caprolactone) (PCL-PEG ...

Clavulanic Acid Overproduction: A Review of Environmental Conditions, Metabolic Fluxes, and Strain Engineering in Streptomyces clavuligerus

open access: yesFermentation
Clavulanic acid is a potent β-lactamase inhibitor produced by Streptomyces clavuligerus, widely used in combination with β-lactam antibiotics to combat antimicrobial resistance.
