Defining Roles in Pediatric Palliative Care: Perspectives From Oncology and Palliative Care Teams

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Early integration of pediatric palliative care (PPC) is associated with improved symptom management, quality of life, and healthcare utilization for children with cancer. Despite this, variation persists in how PPC is understood, operationalized, and integrated within pediatric oncology programs. In particular, ambiguity surrounding

Monitoring of Roof Bolting as an Element of the Project of the Introduction of Roof Bolting in Polish Coal Mines—Case Study

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Roof bolting is the most popular type of support for underground mines’ workings. However, in Polish coal mines it is used only as a supplementary support.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Cyclic stress measurement method using electrodeposited copper foil (Principal stress measurement using Debye ring of X-ray diffraction)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu
When a copper foil is adhered to a machine element subjected to repeated loads, grains grow in the foil. It has already been revealed that the maximum shear stress and principal stresses, which are important in evaluating the fatigue strength of the ...

Out-of-plane bending stress intensity factor analysis of cracks in a strip using single-element strain gage

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2023
In recent years, the authors have developed a dedicated strain gage (hereafter referred to as a K-value gage) and an analysis method that can analyze the stress intensity factor of a crack with a single element.

Measurement of Highly Non-uniform Residual Stress Fields in Thin Plate Using a New Side Cut Destructive Method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A recently proposed Mechanical Strain Relaxation (MSR) technique for the measurement of residual stress in thin plates is presented. The measurement of residual stress involves making a single straight cut and collecting the relaxation displacement data ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Application of X-ray stress measurement for residual stress analysis by inherent strain method - Comparison of cosα and sin2Ψ method-

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2017
Most cold forming processes are perceived as simple surface treatments without a heating process and are widely used to improve the fatigue strength of various engineering components.

Measurement of Highly Non-Uniform Residual Stress Fields with Reduced Plastic Error [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Experimental validations of a recently proposed method for residual stress measurement are presented. The method, specifically designed for highly non-uniform in-plane residual stress fields is applied in this work to measure the residual stresses ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
