A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

The evolution of the crustal stress state of the Catoca kimberlite pipe area (northeastern Angola)

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2018
This paper presents the first results of the geostructural and tectonophysical studies of the crustal stress state in the Catoca kimberlite pipe area at the southwestern flank of the Kasai Shield in the northeasternAngola. In the evolution of the crustal

The stress system generated by an electromagnetic field in a suspension of drops [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
The stress generated in a suspension of drops in the presence of a uniform electric field and a pure straining motion, taking into account that the magnetohydrodynamic effects are dominant was calculated.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Study on Braking Temperature and Stress Fields of Metro Wheel Tread Considering Wheel-Axle Interference Fit

open access: yesTaiyuan Ligong Daxue xuebao
Purposes The stress on the metro wheel is complicated, which is not only influenced by the wheel-rail coupling force and the contact pressure induced by the axle-wheel interference fit, but also by the thermal load generated during braking.

Cis‐regulatory and long noncoding RNA alterations in breast cancer – current insights, biomarker utility, and the critical need for functional validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.

Correcting flat mirrors with surface stress: analytical stress fields

open access: yesJournal of the Optical Society of America A, 2018
Thin mirrors, important for next-generation space telescopes, are difficult to accurately fabricate. One approach is to fabricate a mirror using traditional methods, then to bend the mirror using surface stress to correct residual height errors. We present two surface stress fields that correct any height error field in thin flat plates.
