Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Caprin-1 binding to the critical stress granule protein G3BP1 is influenced by pH
G3BP is the central node within stress-induced protein–RNA interaction networks known as stress granules (SGs). The SG-associated proteins Caprin-1 and USP10 bind mutually exclusively to the NTF2 domain of G3BP1, promoting and inhibiting SG formation ...

Pathological stress granules in Alzheimer’s disease [PDF]
A feature of neurodegenerative disease is the accumulation of insoluble protein aggregates in the brain. In some conditions, including Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and Frontotemporal lobar degeneration, the primary aggregating entities are RNA binding proteins.

A 3D bone scaffold with osteogenic properties and capable of hardening in vivo is developed. The scaffold is implanted in a ductile state, and a phase transformation of the ceramic induces the stiffening and strengthening of the scaffold in vivo. Abstract Calcium phosphate 3D printing has revolutionized customized bone grafting.

Hexanucleotide repeat expansions in the C9ORF72 gene are causally associated with frontotemporal lobar dementia (FTLD) and/or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The physiological function of the normal C9ORF72 protein remains unclear. In this study, we characterized the subcellular localization of C9ORF72 to processing bodies (P-bodies) and its ...

The FET family of proteins is composed of FUS/TLS, EWS/EWSR1, and TAF15 and possesses RNA- and DNA-binding capacities. The FET-proteins are involved in transcriptional regulation and RNA processing, and FET-gene deregulation is associated with ...

Super-diffusion versus competitive advection: a simulation [PDF]
Magnetic element tracking is often used to study the transport and diffusion of the magnetic field on the solar photosphere. From the analysis of the displacement spectrum of these tracers, it has been recently agreed that a regime of super-diffusivity ...

RNP Granule Formation: Lessons from P-Bodies and Stress Granules [PDF]
It is now clear that cells form a wide collection of large RNA-protein assemblies, referred to as RNP granules. RNP granules exist in bacterial cells and can be found in both the cytosol and nucleus of eukaryotic cells. Recent approaches have begun to define the RNA and protein composition of a number of RNP granules.
