Systematic Analysis of Stress Granule Regulators-Associated Molecular Subtypes Predicts Drug Response, Immune Response, and Prognosis in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2022
Lung cancer has the world’s second highest cancer incidence and second highest cancer-related mortality rate. However, the mechanism underlying non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remained to be unclear.

Quantitative in-situ monitoring of germinating barley seeds using X-ray dark-field radiography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
During production of malt from barley seeds, cell walls and starch granules in the endosperm are degraded. Although this modification process is important for malt quality, the modification patterns of individual barley seeds have yet to be reported.

Bioresorbable and Wireless Rechargeable Implanted Na‐ion Battery for Temporary Medical Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐solid‐state bioresorbable Na‐ion battery is developed, composed entirely of bio‐eliminable materials. In vivo and ex vivo tests confirmed harmless disintegration of this implanted battery. Lifetime of the implanted battery can be precisely controlled by adjusting the dissolvable encapsulation layer's thickness.

To unwind the biological knots: The DNA/RNA G‐quadruplex resolvase RHAU (DHX36) in development and disease

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, Volume 5, Issue 6, Page 542-549, December 2022., 2022
Schematic diagram showing RHAU can bind and unwind the G4 “knots” to modulate embryonic development and post‐natal organ function. Deficiency of RHAU gives rise to embryonic lethality, impaired organogenesis and organ dysfunction. RHAU modulates Nkx2‐5 mRNA and Yap1 mRNA at the post‐transcriptional level and facilitates the transcription of c‐Kit and ...

HDAC6, A Novel Cargo for Autophagic Clearance of Stress Granules, Mediates the Repression of the Type I Interferon Response During Coxsackievirus A16 Infection

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2020
Autophagic cargoes ensure selective autophagy for the recognition and removal of various cytosolic aggregated proteins, damaged organelles, or pathogens. Stress granules (SGs), as antiviral immune complexes, serve a positive role in the type I interferon

Reduced Insulin/IGF-1 Signaling Restores the Dynamic Properties of Key Stress Granule Proteins during Aging

open access: yesCell Reports, 2017
Summary: Low-complexity “prion-like” domains in key RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) mediate the reversible assembly of RNA granules. Individual RBPs harboring these domains have been linked to specific neurodegenerative diseases.

Jamming and the onset of granulation in a model particle system [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Granulation is a ubiquitous process crucial for many products ranging from food and care products to pharmaceuticals. Granulation is the process in which a powder is mixed with a small amount of liquid (binder) to form solid agglomerates surrounded by air.

Functional Biomaterials Derived from Protein Liquid–Liquid Phase Separation and Liquid‐to‐Solid Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Protein can undergo liquid–liquid phase separation and liquid‐to‐solid transition to form liquid condensates and solid aggregates. These phase transitions can be influenced by post‐translational modifications, mutations, and various environmental factors.

Cdh1-APC Regulates Protein Synthesis and Stress Granules in Neurons through an FMRP-Dependent Mechanism

open access: yesiScience, 2020
Summary: Maintaining a balance between protein degradation and protein synthesis is necessary for neurodevelopment. Although the E3 ubiquitin ligase anaphase promoting complex and its regulatory subunit Cdh1 (Cdh1-APC) has been shown to regulate learning
