A Functional 67-bp Duplication Locating at the Core Promoter Region within the Bovine ADIPOQ Gene Is Associated with Ovarian Traits and mRNA Expression

open access: yesAnimals
ADIPOQ plays a crucial role in regulating the reproductive system, but there are few reports on the effects of ADIPOQ on ovarian in dairy cows. Previous studies have verified the presence of a 67-bp mutation in the promoter region of the ADIPOQ gene ...

Global Schumpeterian Dynamics with Structural Variations

open access: yesBulletin of the South Ural State University. Series "Mathematical Modelling, Programming and Computer Software", 2019
Summary: In this paper, we present the investigations developing the schumpeterian theory of endogenous evolution of economic systems. The proposed approach allows to simulate the emergence and propagation of new technologies. We develop a mathematical model of dynamics of sector capital distribution over efficiency levels on the base of the system of ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Variations in urban population structure [PDF]

open access: yesDemography, 1964

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Investigating structural variant, indel and single nucleotide polymorphism differentiation between locally adapted Atlantic salmon populations

open access: yesEvolutionary Applications
Genomic structural variants (SVs) are now recognized as an integral component of intraspecific polymorphism and are known to contribute to evolutionary processes in various organisms.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
