The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Effects of lattice variations on confinement in photonic crystal microcavity using green tensor method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Electric field distribution in and around the 2D PC cavity was calculated for different lattice parameters using the Dyson formulation of the Green tensor.

Time-frequency representation of earthquake accelerograms and inelastic structural response records using the adaptive chirplet decomposition and empirical mode decomposition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper, the adaptive chirplet decomposition combined with the Wigner-Ville transform and the empirical mode decomposition combined with the Hilbert transform are employed to process various non-stationary signals (strong ground motions and ...

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Sharp interface limit for a phase field model in structural optimization

open access: yes, 2016
We formulate a general shape and topology optimization problem in structural optimization by using a phase field approach. This problem is considered in view of well-posedness and we derive optimality conditions.

Information structural notions and the fallacy of invariant correlates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In a first step, definitions of the irreducible information structural categories are given, and in a second step, it is shown that there are no invariant phonological or otherwise grammatical correlates of these categories. In other words, the phonology,

A Functional 67-bp Duplication Locating at the Core Promoter Region within the Bovine ADIPOQ Gene Is Associated with Ovarian Traits and mRNA Expression

open access: yesAnimals
ADIPOQ plays a crucial role in regulating the reproductive system, but there are few reports on the effects of ADIPOQ on ovarian in dairy cows. Previous studies have verified the presence of a 67-bp mutation in the promoter region of the ADIPOQ gene ...

Copy Number Variation Mapping and Genomic Variation of Autochthonous and Commercial Turkey Populations

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2019
This study aims at investigating genomic diversity of several turkey populations using Copy Number Variants (CNVs). A total of 115 individuals from six Italian breeds (Colle Euganei, Bronzato Comune Italiano, Parma e Piacenza, Brianzolo, Nero d’Italia ...

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

Novel Genetic Rearrangements Termed “Structural Variation Polymorphisms“ Contribute to the Genetic Diversity of Orthohepadnaviruses

open access: yesViruses, 2019
The genetic diversity of orthohepadnaviruses is not yet fully understood. This study was conducted to investigate the role of structural variations (SVs) in their diversity. Genetic sequences of orthohepadnaviruses were retrieved from databases.
