Spin‐System‐Selective 2D J‐Spectroscopy

open access: yesChemistry–Methods, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2026.
A new family of experiments is presented that extracts the spectra of individual spin systems. Spin‐system‐selective 2D J‐resolved (SSS2DJ) spectroscopy reveals chemical shift information at "pure shift" resolution, while retaining multiplet structure in a simple 2D spectrum.

Optimization of an LC–MS/MS analytical method for strychnine in livestock and fishery products

open access: yesApplied Biological Chemistry
Strychnine, an alkaloid recognized for its antagonist effects on glycine and acetylcholine receptors, is highly toxic and banned in several countries. It is also set to restricted in Republic of Korea from 2024, creating a need for a quantitative test ...

Simultaneous Detection of GABA and Glycine Using MEGA‐PRESS With TE Optimization at 3T

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 5, Page 2479-2488, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose To achieve the simultaneous acquisition of gamma‐aminobutyric acid (GABA) and glycine (Gly) using a MEGA‐PRESS sequence with an optimized TE at 3T. Methods MEGA‐PRESS simulations were performed at TEs 60‐88 ms to determine the optimal TE for Gly detection with minimal myo‐Inositol (mI) overlap and maximal GABA detection sensitivity ...

“Nothing” Really Matters: What Omission Responses Reveal About the Predictive Brain

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 63, Issue 10, May 2026.
Omission paradigms reveal the brain's predictions by removing expected events. We propose these responses arise from the cooperation of two computational styles: Local Regularity Encoding (fast, automatic, local circuits, short temporal windows) and Model‐Based Inference (distributed networks, content‐specific predictions, attention‐dependent, rule ...

Differentiated human midbrain-derived neural progenitor cells express excitatory strychnine-sensitive glycine receptors containing α2β subunits. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
BACKGROUND: Human fetal midbrain-derived neural progenitor cells (NPCs) may deliver a tissue source for drug screening and regenerative cell therapy to treat Parkinson's disease.

Photonic Crystal Fibers in the Terahertz Regime: Design Strategies, Performance Metrics, and Emerging Applications: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
An optimized octagonal‐core terahertz (THz) photonic crystal fiber sensor is presented for accurate identification of different milk samples based on refractive index variation. The structure enables highly confined THz guidance and strong light–analyte interaction, allowing reliable discrimination of camel, cow, buffalo, and sheep milk.

Strychnine poisoning in dogs.

open access: yes, 1955
While there is considerable variation in the reaction of different species of animals to strychnine, the dog is particularly susceptible. The early symptoms of strychnine poisoning are anxiety and restlessness, followed by twitching and violent muscular ...
