Physical and Chemical Characterization of Soil in Urban Solid Waste Disposal Area

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Waste generation and subsequent disposal in adequate sites still have limitations in some Brazilian municipalities. Therefore, environmental monitoring of these areas is extremely important, as it helps to preserve the environment. The purpose of this study is to analyze the chemical and physical parameters of soil in a landfill area. For this,

Diffraction‐Free Natural Optical Skyrmions and Their Subwavelength Confinement Around Vortices

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Diffraction causes waves to spread out as they propagate freely. The tighter the lateral confinement, the faster the spreading. Past research on how to suppress diffraction has been based on wave engineering and has led so far to idealized waves that, in real settings, eventually diffract.

1 W Single‐Mode Large‐Area Edge‐Emitting Laser via Non‐Hermitian Spatial Mode Filtering

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
We demonstrate a non‐Hermitian spatial mode filtering approach for achieving high‐power single‐mode operation in large‐area edge‐emitting laser diodes. By symmetrically coupling passive filter arrays to the main lasing waveguide, higher‐order transverse modes are effectively suppressed while preserving the fundamental mode.

Emotion and Engagement Across the Idol Spectrum: Comparing Virtual and Human Idols

open access: yesPsychology &Marketing, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The increasing adoption of virtual idols in entertainment platforms raises critical questions about how viewers respond to their emotional performances compared to human idols. Despite their growing presence, little is known about whether and how emotional expressivity differs across performer modalities and content formats, or how these ...
