Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Multiple AMMI models investigation to decipher the genotype by environment (G×E) interaction in sugarcane interspecific hybrids for yield and quality traits

open access: yesScientific Reports
Genotype × Environment interaction for yield and quality traits was studied in 19 sugarcane (Saccharum spp.) genotypes, including 16 test entries and three varieties, assessed using a Randomized Block Design with three replications at Ponni Sugars, Erode,

Hyposalivation and salivary gland histopathology in graft-versus-host disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Oral Health
IntroductionA major long-term complication following allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) is graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). Oral chronic GVHD (cGVHD) is common and affects the mucosa with diagnostic lichenoid-like manifestations ...

In situ Generated Ru(0)-HRO@Na-β From Hydrous Ruthenium Oxide (HRO)/Na-β: An Energy-Efficient Catalyst for Selective Hydrogenation of Sugars

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2020
A green process for the hydrogenation of sugars to sugar alcohols was designed in aqueous medium using hydrous ruthenium oxide (HRO) as a pre-catalyst supported on Na-β zeolite.

Biological hot spots and the accumulation of marine dissolved organic matter in a highly productive ocean margin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Concentrations of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and major biochemicals (amino acids and carbohydrates) were measured during five cruises (2009–2010) to the Louisiana margin in the northern Gulf of Mexico.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
