Safety and Efficacy of Glucagon‐Like Peptide‐1 Receptor Agonists Use in Elderly People With Obesity—A Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesObesity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This meta‐analysis evaluates the safety and efficacy of glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1 RA) for the treatment of older adults with obesity compared to younger individuals. Methods A systematic review was conducted following PRISMA guidelines (PROSPERO CRD420251074381).

UNI‐494 treatment improves measures of renal dysfunction and cardiac pathology in male rats receiving L‐NAME and angiotensin II

open access: yesPhysiological Reports
Mitochondrial dysfunction is essential in the pathophysiology of both cardiovascular disease (CVD) and chronic kidney disease (CKD). Nicorandil, a nicotinamide nitrate derivative, has been used for years as a cardioprotective agent.

Interaction of fluorescein derivatives with glibenclamide binding sites in rat brain.

open access: yes, 1995
In rat brain, [3H]glibenclamide binds with high affinity to sulfonylurea receptors associated with ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channels. KATP channels may play a modulatory role in neurotransmitter release and are involved in acute pathological events

A Trp574–Leu substitution confers resistance to three classes of acetolactate synthase inhibitors in Australian brome grass (Bromus diandrus)

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Target‐site based imidazolinone resistance in brome grass was found to be conferred by a mutation at position 574 in the ALS gene and to severely impact the efficacy of the herbicide Intervix®, a co‐formulation of imazamox and imazapyr. Abstract BACKGROUND Brome grass (Bromus diandrus) is a prevalent weed in southern Australian cropping regions which ...

Determination of the molecular mass of the native β‐cell sulfonylurea receptor [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1994
In the present study we have determined the molecular mass of the β‐cell sulfonylurea receptor in its native form by two different experimental approaches; gel filtration chromatography and radiation inactivation analysis. We first confirmed that the denatured photolabelled MIN6 β‐cell receptor had a molecular size of 141 ± 2 kDa (mean ± S.E., n = 8 ...

The sulfonylurea glimepiride regulates intracellular routing of the insulin-receptor complexes through their interaction with specific protein kinase C isoforms

open access: yes, 2001
Sulfonylureas may stimulate glucose metabolism by protein kinase C (PKC) activation. Because interaction of insulin receptors with PKC plays an important role in controlling the intracellular sorting of the insulin-receptor complex, we investigated the ...

Pro‐197 mutations confer resistance to thiencarbazone but not to foramsulfuron in ALS‐resistant Poa annua populations

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Foramsulfuron remains effective on Pro‐197 Poa annua, but co‐formulation with thiencarbazone reduces efficacy due to limited activity and antagonism. Therefore, foramsulfuron + thiencarbazone should be used in fields without ALS‐resistant weeds to ensure effective in‐crop control.

Ontogeny of sulfonylurea-binding regulatory subunits of KATP channels in the pregnant rat myometrium

open access: yes, 2011
ATP-sensitive potassium channels (KATPchannels) are composed of sulfonylurea receptors (SURs) and potassium inward rectifiers (Kir6.x) that assemble to form a large octameric channel.
