Heart failure (HF) with supranormal ejection fraction (HFsnEF) is an unnoticed but emerging entity in HF. This study showed that HFsnEF carries a similarly increased cardiovascular risk as HF with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and distinct structural and proteomic characteristics from HFrEF, warranting a further comprehensive understanding and ...

SUMOylation is essential for Sirt2 tumor-suppressor function in neuroblastoma
SUMOylation is an important post-translational modification that participates in a variety of cellular physiological and pathological processes in eukaryotic cells. Sirt2, a NAD+-dependent deacetylase, usually exerts a tumor-suppressor function. However,

Histone sumoylation promotes Set3 histone-deacetylase complex-mediated transcriptional regulation
Histones are substrates of the SUMO (small ubiquitin-like modifier) conjugation pathway. Several reports suggest histone sumoylation affects transcription negatively, but paradoxically, our genome-wide analysis shows the modification concentrated at many

Protein Post‐Translational Modification‐Mediated Control of Type I Interferon Cascade Signaling
ABSTRACT Type I interferons (IFN‐Is) constitute the primary defense mechanism against pathogenic infections in the human body. The antiviral signaling mediated by IFN‐I is integral to the host immune response. Nevertheless, an imbalance in IFN‐I function can perturb the organism’s homeostasis. Consequently, it is imperative for the body to meticulously

Key Regulators of Parasite Biology Viewed Through a Post‐Translational Modification Repertoire
ABSTRACT Parasites are the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in both humans and animals, imposing substantial socioeconomic burdens worldwide. Controlling parasitic diseases has become one of the key issues in achieving “One Health”. Most parasites have sophisticated life cycles exhibiting progressive developmental stages, morphologies, and ...

Tollip Is a Mediator of Protein Sumoylation
Tollip is an interactor of the interleukin-1 receptor involved in its activation. The endosomal turnover of ubiquitylated IL-1RI is also controlled by Tollip. Furthermore, together with Tom1, Tollip has a general role in endosomal protein traffic. This work shows that Tollip is involved in the sumoylation process.

ABSTRACT The nuclear steroid hormone receptor progesterone receptor (PGR) is expressed in granulosa cells in the ovarian follicle in a tightly regulated pattern in response to the surge of luteinizing hormone (LH) that stimulates ovulation. PGR plays a critical role in mediating ovulation in response to LH, however, the mechanism for this is still ...

SUMOylation-Mediated Response to Mitochondrial Stress
Mitochondrial stress is considered as a factor that reprograms the mitochondrial biogenesis and metabolism. As known, SUMOylation occurs through a series of stress-induced biochemical reactions. During the process of SUMOylation, the small ubiquitin-like
