An EPR spin-probe and spin-trap study of the free radicals produced by plant plasma membranes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2005
Plant plasma membranes are known to produce superoxide radicals, while the production of hydroxyl radical is thought to occur only in the cell wall. In this work it was demonstrated using combined spin-trap and spin-probe EPR spectroscopic techniques ...

Purine nucleoside phosphorylase: A new marker for free oxygen radical injury to the endothelial cell [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The effect of ischemia and reperfusion on purine nucleoside phosphorylase was studied in an isolated perfused rat liver model. This enzyme is localized primarily in the cytoplasm of the endothelial and Kupffer cells; some activity is associated with the ...

Copper‐based Materials for Photo and Electrocatalytic Process: Advancing Renewable Energy and Environmental Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cu‐based catalysts as a cornerstone in advancing sustainable energy technologies are fully reviewed in this manuscript, highlighting their potential in photo‐ and electrocatalysis. It includes metallic copper, copper oxides, copper sulfides, copper halide perovskites, copper‐based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), and covalent organic frameworks (COFs),

LDL oxidation by activated monocytes: characterization of the oxidized LDL and requirement for transition metal ions

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1998
Monocytes can be activated by incubation with opsonized zymosan (Zop), and under these conditions can oxidize low density lipoprotein (LDL). We have characterized the biochemical changes in the lipoprotein after this oxidation.

Controlled Aggregation of Pyrene‐Based Supramolecular Nanostructures for Light‐Driven Switchable H2 or H2O2 Production

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work reports the self‐assembly of a pyrene derivative into two distinct nanostructures and their application in visible‐light photocatalysis. The two nanostructures exhibit completely different yet complementary photocatalytic activities, promoting either H2 or H2O2 evolution.

Changes in neuronal CycD/Cdk4 activity affect aging, neurodegeneration, and oxidative stress. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Mitochondrial dysfunction has been implicated in human diseases, including cancer, and proposed to accelerate aging. The Drosophila Cyclin-dependent protein kinase complex cyclin D/cyclin-dependent kinase 4 (CycD/Cdk4) promotes cellular growth by ...

Atmospheric Doping of Stretchable Polymer Semiconductors for Skin Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An atmospheric doping system using oxygen molecules in air as dopants is introduced for stretchable polymer semiconductors. The chemisorbed oxygen molecules act as acceptor, lead to increase not only the hole concentration of the semiconductor film over two orders of magnitude (3.37 × 1017 cm−3) but also electrical properties of the field‐effect ...
