Surface charge accumulation on HVDC-GIS-spacer
Conference Record of the the 2002 IEEE International Symposium on Electrical Insulation (Cat. No.02CH37316), 2003The paper deals with the surface charge accumulation on spacers of gas-insulated substations (GIS) applied to HVDC. The surface charge accumulation on solid insulators is a major problem of HVDC systems because it distorts the field distribution and reduces the breakdown voltage.

Insulator surface charge accumulation under DC voltage
Conference Record of the the 2002 IEEE International Symposium on Electrical Insulation (Cat. No.02CH37316), 2003The phenomena of surface charging are investigated using the capacitive probe method. In order to decrease the charge leakage a new type probe with high resolution is designed. The influence of voltage amplitude, duration, polarity and surrounding humidity on the surface charging are studied.

Charge accumulation on the surface of insulation dielectric used in high voltage DC equipment is one of the important causes of surface flashover. Surface charge accumulation is closely related to surface trap characteristics. In this paper, the surface trap energy level distribution of polyimide (PI) was calculated and analyzed by the corona charging ...

Mechanisms of surface charge accumulation in SF6
Archiv für Elektrotechnik, 1994Special geometries of electrodes were designed to determine the dominant mechanism of surface charge accumulation. It was found that the charge transport in the gas is dominant, and consequently, the normal field at spacer surfaces as well as the ionization behaviour at electrode surfaces play important roles in charge accumulation in SF6.

Surface Charge Accumulation on PTFE under Magnetic Field
2007 IEEE International Conference on Solid Dielectrics, 2007Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) was employed to investigate the effect of magnetic field on surface charge accumulation. The magnetic field (B) was set to make E×B drift into, away from and parallel to sample surface. An electrostatic probe was designed to measure the surface charge density.

Collective bulk carrier delocalization driven by electrostatic surface charge accumulation
Nature, 2012In the classic transistor, the number of electric charge carriers--and thus the electrical conductivity--is precisely controlled by external voltage, providing electrical switching capability. This simple but powerful feature is essential for information processing technology, and also provides a platform for fundamental physics research. As the number

Gamma-ray Irradiation Inhibiting Surface Charge Accumulation on Polyethylene
IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 2009Polymer insulating materials installed in electrical and electronic devices are widely used in spacecraft and nuclear power stations where the polymers are exposed to energetic radioactive rays. The chemical structure can be changed by radiation induced reactions that possibly gives rise to the alteration of characteristics of surface charge, which can

Computational study of charge accumulation at SnO2(110) surface
Surface Science, 2005Abstract Features of SnO2(1 1 0) surfaces with a surplus electron are considered computationally by applying density functional method. The additional charge is found to influence on surface energetics and surface relaxations considerably with respect to the corresponding surfaces without additional charge.

Optimal Electrode-Solid Insulator Geometry with Accumulated Surface Charges
IEEE Transactions on Electrical Insulation, 1984The electric field distribution along the interface of a solid insulator-vacuum (or gas) is analyzed for different solid insulator-electrode configurations with and without the presence of surface charges using the charge simulation technique. The tangential component of the electric field at the solid insulator-electrodevacuum (or gas) triple junction

Research on Surface Charge Accumulation Characteristics of DC Basin Insulator
2020 4th International Conference on HVDC (HVDC), 2020When the DC voltage applied, the electric field distribution of the DC GIL basin insulator will change from the initial capacitive distribution to the steady-state resistive distribution. This process is accompanied by the accumulation and dissipation of surface charges, which may cause a decrease in the flashover voltage along the insulator. Therefore,
