Enhancement of Aqueous Solubility and Dissolution of Celecoxib through Phosphatidylcholine-Based Dispersion Systems Solidified with Adsorbent Carriers

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2018
This study aimed to design phosphatidylcholine (PC)-based solid dispersion (SD) systems for enhancing the apparent aqueous solubility and dissolution of celecoxib (CLC), a selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor with a highly hydrophobic property.

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.

Kinematics and Mass Profile of AWM 7

open access: yes, 1999
We have measured 492 redshifts (311 new) in the direction of the poor cluster AWM~7 and have identified 179 cluster members (73 new). We use two independent methods to derive a self-consistent mass profile, under the assumptions that the absorption-line ...

SOLID DISPERSION OF USNIC ACID-PVP K30 AND EVALUATION OF ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY

open access: yes, 2018
Usnic acid, a compound produced by Usnea sp, has been reported for anti-oxidant activity. However, the use of usnic acid is still finite due to poor solubility in water.

Preparation and Evaluation of Andrographolide Solid Dispersion Vectored by Silicon Dioxide

open access: yesPharmacognosy Magazine, 2016
Background: Andrographolide (Andro) is a “natural antibiotic” as well as a typical insoluble drug. The purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility of commercially available silica (SiO2) as a carrier of solid dispersion to enhance the ...

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Understanding the Effect of Resistance Temperature Detector Temperature Controllers on Microstructural Alignment in Magnetic Freeze Casting

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The effect of temperature controllers that are commonly used in freeze‐casting is investigated in this work. Temperature controllers are observed to generate a voltage in the slurry. Microstructural alignment and ultimate compressive strength data show this voltage to interfere with the ability to align the microstructure using magnetic fields ...

Electrostatic Precipitation of Submicron Particles in a Molten Carrier

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2019
Recently, submicron particles have been discussed as a means to increase the bioavailability of poorly water-soluble drugs. Separation of these small particles is done with both fibre and membrane filters, as well as electrostatic precipitators.

Computation of surface wave dispersion for multilayered anisotropic media [PDF]

open access: yes, 1962
With the program described in this paper it is now possible to compute surface wave dispersion in a solid heterogeneous halfspace containing up to 200 anisotropic layers. Certain discrepancies in surface wave observations, such as disagreement between
