Coping with the Forced Swim Stressor: Towards Understanding an Adaptive Mechanism

open access: yesNeural Plasticity, 2016
In the forced swim test (FST) rodents progressively show increased episodes of immobility if immersed in a beaker with water from where escape is not possible.

Hippocampal gene expression induced by cold swim stress depends on sex and handling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Summary: Stress-related disorders such as PTSD and depression are more prevalent in women than men. One reason for such discordance may be that brain regions involved in stress responses are more sensitive to stress in females.

Anchored Fluoro‐Shielded Solvation for Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Anchored fluoro‐shielded solvation reconstructs PVDF‐based polymer electrolytes by coupling polyanionic Li+‐solvate sites with fluorinated shielding segments. This design organizes anion‐rich solvation networks, strengthens selective Li+ transport, and generates LiF‐rich solid electrolyte interphase, enabling high conductivity, wide oxidative tolerance,

Changes in NGF/c-Fos double staining in the structures of the limbic system in juvenile and aged rats exposed to forced swim test

open access: yes, 2009
This study aimed to investigate the influence of acute (a single 15 min) and chronic (15 min daily for 21 days) exposure to forced swim (FS) test on nerve growth factor (NGF)/c-Fos cells in hypothalamic paraventricular (PV) and supraoptic (SO) nuclei ...

Activation of Erk and JNK MAPK pathways by acute swim stress in rat brain regions

open access: yesBMC Neuroscience, 2004
Background The mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) have been shown to participate in a wide array of cellular functions. A role for some MAPKs (e.g., extracellular signal-regulated kinase, Erk1/2) has been documented in response to certain ...

Tailored Cationic Visible‐Light‐Active Interfaces for Sustainable, Biodegradable Nanofibers With Dual‐Mode Antimicrobial Activity and Robust Electrostatic Particle Capture

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Surface co‐functionalization of biodegradable nanofibers with sodium copper chlorophyllin and quaternary ammonium compounds achieves synergistic antimicrobial activity through combined photodynamic and contact‐killing mechanisms. The cationic surface provides humidity‐resistant electrostatic particle capture while maintaining rapid enzymatic ...

The depressive-like behaviors are correlated with decreased phosphorylation of mitogen-activated protein kinases in rat brain following chronic forced swim stress

open access: yes, 2006
In the present study, 40 Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into forced swim stress group and controls, with 20 rats in each group (10 for behavioral tests. 10 for protein detection).

Ferroionic‐Assisted, Charge‐Driven Polymorphic Phase Engineering for Multilevel Memristive Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A CuInP2S6/Mo0.92W0.08Te2 heterostructure enables a gradual semiconductor‐to‐semimetal phase transition through Cu+ ion migration and charge accumulation. The spatially engineered 2H/1T′ mixed phases produce continuously tunable conductance states in a two‐terminal geometry, while suppressing depolarizing fields and stabilizing the metastable 1T′ phase.
