Carbon Nanotube 3D Integrated Circuits: From Design to Applications
As Moore's law approaches its physical limits, carbon nanotube (CNT) 3D integrated circuits (ICs) emerge as a promising alternative due to the miniaturization, high mobility, and low power consumption. CNT 3D ICs in optoelectronics, memory, and monolithic ICs are reviewed while addressing challenges in fabrication, design, and integration.

Synaptic activity can induce neurons to synthesize proteins important for cognition and brain development. Recent results suggest this activity-induced protein synthesis is partially mediated by regulated translation within neuronal dendrites.

Summary: Here, we detail a surface biotinylation technique used to label surface-expressed proteins in primary neuronal cultures. Surface proteins are labeled with membrane-impermeant Sulfo-NHS-SS-biotin, and isolated by pull-down with streptavidin beads

Effects of Synaptic and Myelin Plasticity on Learning in a Network of Kuramoto Phase Oscillators [PDF]
Models of learning typically focus on synaptic plasticity. However, learning is the result of both synaptic and myelin plasticity. Specifically, synaptic changes often co-occur and interact with myelin changes, leading to complex dynamic interactions between these processes.

The roles of STP and LTP in synaptic encoding [PDF]
Long-term potentiation (LTP), a cellular model of learning and memory, is generally regarded as a unitary phenomenon that alters the strength of synaptic transmission by increasing the postsynaptic response to the release of a quantum of neurotransmitter.

Locally coordinated synaptic plasticity of visual cortex neurons in vivo
Rebalancing strength between synapses Activation of a neuronal pathway is often associated with inhibition of surrounding pathways. How locally coordinated synaptic plasticity occurs in vivo is not known, nor is its role in shaping neuronal responses. El-
