Sequentially Palladium-Catalyzed Processes in One-Pot Syntheses of Heterocycles

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2015
Sequentially Pd-catalyzed processes are excellent entries to heterocycle synthesis. The broad mechanistic variety combined with often very mild reaction conditions allow the concatenation of elementary organic and organometallic steps to novel sequences ...

The Augmented Synthetic Control Method [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Statistical Association, 2021
The synthetic control method (SCM) is a popular approach for estimating the impact of a treatment on a single unit in panel data settings. The synthetic control is a weighted average of control units that balances the treated unit s pretreatment outcomes and other covariates as closely as possible. A critical feature of the original proposal is

Synthetic versus biological mesh-related erosion after laparoscopic ventral mesh rectopexy. A systematic review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Purpose: This review reports the incidence of mesh-related erosion after ventral mesh rectopexy to determine whether any difference exists in the erosion rate between synthetic and biological mesh. Methods: A systematic search of the MEDLINE and the Ovid

An Exact and Robust Conformal Inference Method for Counterfactual and Synthetic Controls

open access: yes, 2020
We introduce new inference procedures for counterfactual and synthetic control methods for policy evaluation. We recast the causal inference problem as a counterfactual prediction and a structural breaks testing problem.

Prediction Intervals for Synthetic Control Methods [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Statistical Association, 2021
Uncertainty quantification is a fundamental problem in the analysis and interpretation of synthetic control (SC) methods. We develop conditional prediction intervals in the SC framework, and provide conditions under which these intervals offer finite-sample probability guarantees. Our method allows for covariate adjustment and non-stationary data.

Recent Advances in C–H Functionalization of Pyrenes

open access: yesChemistry, 2023
In recent years, transition metal-catalyzed C–H activation and site-selective functionalization have been considered to be valuable synthetic tactics to functionalize organic compounds containing multiple C–H bonds.

Corrosion Protective Coating Based on Chemically Cross-Linked Particles of Few-Layer Graphene

open access: yesNanomaterials
Coatings based on graphene nanostructures represent one of the most promising solutions for protecting metals from corrosion. However, their application remains unprofitable due to the high production costs, which are caused by the imperfections in ...

Magnetically Hollow Pt Nanocages with Ultrathin Walls as a Highly Integrated Nanoreactor for Catalytic Transfer Hydrogenation Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2019
Fabricating efficient and stable nanocatalysts for chemoselective hydrogenation of nitroaromatics is highly desirable because the amines hold tremendous promise for the synthesis of nitrogen containing chemicals. Here, a highly reactive and stable porous
