Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.

Loss of chromosome Y in regulatory T cells

open access: yesBMC Genomics
Background Mosaic loss of chromosome Y (LOY) in leukocytes is the most prevalent somatic aneuploidy in aging humans. Men with LOY have increased risks of all-cause mortality and the major causes of death, including many forms of cancer.

Decrease of Tumor-infiltrating Regulatory T Cells Using Pentoxifylline: An Ex Vivo Analysis in Triple-negative Breast Cancer Mouse Model

open access: yesIranian Journal of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, 2022
Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the most aggressive type of BC with the highest percentage of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs). Hence, TIL therapy is considered a promising approach to target TNBC. Depletion of regulatory T cells (Tregs) in

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

IL-24 producing regulatory T and B lymphocytes in endometriosis

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
ProblemUnbalanced production of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines by immune cells is a hallmark of endometriosis. IL-24, a member of the IL-10 family, is a pleiotropic cytokine produced by both non-immune cells like astrocytes, keratinocytes ...

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Clinical and prognostic significance of T-regulatory cells and CD28 expression on T-lymphocytes in patients with immune thrombocytopenia

open access: yesОнкогематология
Background. The leading role in the control of the immune response and peripheral tolerance is played by T-regulatory cells, as well as costimulatory molecules C28 on T-lymphocytes, which are necessary for effective activation.

RFX transcription factors control a miR-150/PDAP1 axis that restrains the proliferation of human T cells.

open access: yesPLoS Biology, 2022
Within the immune system, microRNAs (miRNAs) exert key regulatory functions. However, what are the mRNA targets regulated by miRNAs and how miRNAs are transcriptionally regulated themselves remain for the most part unknown. We found that in primary human

TREX1, a predator for treating MSI‐H tumors?

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Immunotherapy benefits many patients; yet, some with MSI‐H tumors remain unresponsive despite their high immunogenicity. Xu et al. reveal that TREX1 enables immune evasion by degrading cytosolic DNA and suppressing cGAS–STING–IFN‐I signaling. TREX1 loss restores DNA sensing, increases CD8+ T and NK cell infiltration, and boosts antitumor immunity ...

To respond or not to respond - a personal perspective of intestinal tolerance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
For many years, the intestine was one of the poor relations of the immunology world, being a realm inhabited mostly by specialists and those interested in unusual phenomena.
