The role of acquired host immunity in periodontal diseases
Abstract The aim of this narrative review is to relate the contribution of European researchers to the complex topic of the host immune system in periodontal disease, focusing on acquired immunity. Other chapters in this volume will address the genetics and autoantibody responses and other forms of immunity to periodontal disease.

There was no increased rate of surgical site infection or bacteremia in liver transplant recipients following a decrease in perioperative antibiotic prophylaxis duration, with a change from 2.4% to 2.8% in patients hospitalized prior to transplant and 7.5% to 2.9% in other patients.

Doxycycline prophylaxis in lung transplant recipients was associated with reduced hyperammonemia syndrome and shorter ventilation, ICU, and hospital stays. These findings suggest that doxycycline prophylaxis may help prevent Ureaplasma/Mycoplasma‐related morbidity.

Comparative 3‐Year Allograft Outcomes for Recipients of Kidneys From SARS‐CoV‐2 NAT‐Positive Donors
In this retrospective single‐center study of 220 kidney transplants from SARS‐CoV‐2 NAT+, NAT+ with COVID as cause of death (CoV‐COD) and NATneg donors, we found no significant difference in rejection or kidney pathologies at 1 year, and death, graft loss, or eGFR at 3 years by CoV‐donor status.

Treatment of Reactive Histiocytosis With Oclacitinib: A Retrospective Case Series of 10 Dogs
Background: Canine reactive histiocytosis is a proliferative disorder of activated interstitial dendritic cells with cutaneous and systemic forms. An immune‐mediated aetiology is likely, and systemic immunomodulatory agents such as corticosteroids, tetracycline/niacinamide, ciclosporin, azathioprine and leflunomide have been employed for its management.
