Magnetostrictive Tactile Sensor Array for Robotic Grasping
2021Tactile sensors play a significant role in robotic grasping. This study compares the output characteristics of magnetostrictive sensor array and TakkTile sensor array which is a commercial product. Magnetostrictive sensor unit is composed of Galfenol wires, permanent magnets, Hall elements, bottom fixture and contact pad.

An integrated tactile-thermal robot sensor with capacitive tactile array

Conference Record of the 1995 IEEE Industry Applications Conference Thirtieth IAS Annual Meeting, 2002The paper discusses a tactile sensor system with high sampling resolution integrated with a thermal sensor. The integration is performed by using the column armature of the matrix of a capacitive tactile sensor as thermal resistor having positive temperature coefficient. A prototype of the sensor has been designed and constructed.

Effect of sensor size in robotic tactile sensor arrays
Robotica, 1988SUMMARYThe degree to which a binary tactile (or visual) image matches the original object is limited by the resolution of the sensor array. Given this fundamental limitation it is still possible to minimize the error in the image formed by the interconnection of the centers of activated sensors along the object's edge.

In this paper, we present POSFET (Piezoelectric – Oxide-FET) based tactile sensing arrays. The equivalent model of a POSFET and its SPICE implementation is presented and various factors involved in the design of POSFET are discussed. A 5x5 array of POSFET tactile elements designed on the basis of discussion is also presented.
