Immobility in the tail suspension test predicts quinine but not saccharin intake in mice
It is assumed that depressive symptomatology can alter taste preferences in humans. The aim of the present study was to search for correlations between immobility in the tail suspension test (TST) and consumption of saccharin (0.0025-0.1%, w/w) and quinine (0.0024-0.04%) solutions. Male C57BL/6J mice were divided into high immobility and low immobility

Individual piglets' contribution to the development of tail biting [PDF]
Conflicting hypotheses exist about the contribution of individual pigs to the development of a tail-biting outbreak, but there is limited quantitative information to support or dismiss them.

Cell surface CD11c as a neutrophil aging marker molecule
Cell surface CD11chi neutrophils were more aged and had better phagocytic function than CD11c−/lo neutrophils. Transcriptomic analysis of CD11chi neutrophils and CD11c−/lo neutrophils in pediatric population showed that the most difference was seen in infants.

BCG vaccination potentiates oxidative phosphorylation in neonatal myeloid‐derived suppressor cells
BCG vaccination enhances oxidative phosphorylation in neonatal MDSCs, impairing their immunosuppressive function. It upregulates electron transport chain genes and mitochondrial activity, increasing ATP and oxygen consumption. Pharmacological OXPHOS inhibition partially restores suppressive capacity, confirming causality.

TGF‐β1 stimulation downregulates lysosomal channel TRPML1 in pulmonary fibroblasts. The TRPML1 agonist ML‐SA5 suppressed fibroblast‐to‐myofibroblast activation and collagen production. Mechanistically, ML‐SA5 inhibited mTOR phosphorylation, restored autophagic flux, and its effects were enhanced by rapamycin (mTOR inhibitor) and reversed by MHY1485 ...

We examined the effects of two noradrenergic tricyclic antidepressants and two selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors in the tail suspension test, with a suspension period of 30 min instead of the usual 10 min. Within the first 10 min, desipramine, nortriptyline and fluvoxamine significantly reduced the duration of immobility. Whereas desipramine and

A rapid visual test combines DNA amplification, CRISPR–based target verification, and a lateral flow strip to detect Streptococcus suis. The assay gives results in about 45 min, reduces false‐positive interpretation, and does not require fluorescence equipment.

INFLUENCE OF GENDER DIFFERENCE IN THE ANTIDEPRESSANT EFFECT OF FLUOXETINE IN MICE IN TAIL SUSPENSION TEST [PDF]
Aim: To determine the effect of gender difference in the antidepressant effect of fluoxetine (FLX) in mice in tail suspension test (TST).Methods: Swiss albino mice of either sex were used and the depression-like behavior was measured by TST.Results: The ...
