Evaluation of some laboratory data in traumatic dogs [PDF]

open access: yesEurasian Journal of Veterinary Sciences
Aim: The aim of this study is to determine prognosis and prevent potential complications in blood samples taken from stray dogs brought into the surgery clinic with complaints of trauma based on hematology, blood gas, serum biochemistry and oxidative ...

Urinary TBARS as a Non-Invasive Proxy of Plasma Lipid Peroxidation in Essential Hypertension: A Translational Study on Vascular Oxidative–Inflammatory Burden

open access: yesAntioxidants
Background/Objectives: Lipid peroxidation is a relevant oxidative–inflammatory mechanism in essential hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Plasma thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), commonly reported as malondialdehyde-equivalent values,

Pharmacological Modulation of Nrf2 Signaling Regulates Oxidative Stress, Inflammation, and Alveolar Bone Loss in Experimental Periodontitis

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
Pharmacological activation of Nrf2 attenuated alveolar bone loss and protected periodontal tissues by reducing inflammation and oxidative stress, preserving collagen organization, and favoring bone homeostasis. Reversal of these effects by Nrf2 inhibition further supports Nrf2 signaling as a promising therapeutic target in periodontitis.

Optimal timing to assess exercise‐induced oxidative stress: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract There is a lack of consensus on optimal timing to assess redox biomarkers post‐exercise, limiting methodological standardisation and linking oxidative stress to physiology. We determined optimal post‐exercise oxidative stress assessment times using three redox biomarkers: glutathione, F2‐isoprostanes and protein carbonyls.

FGF21/sirtuin 1 axis mediates the cardioprotective effects of high‐intensity interval training against doxorubicin‐induced cardiotoxicity by reducing inflammatory and oxidative stress

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Doxorubicin (DOX) is a potent anthracycline chemotherapeutic agent, but its clinical use is limited by cumulative cardiotoxicity. Exercise, particularly high‐intensity interval training (HIIT), has emerged as an effective non‐pharmacological strategy to counteract chemotherapy‐induced cardiac injury.

Oxidative stress in honey bees (Apis mellifera) and small carpenter bees (Ceratina calcarata) across different landscapes

open access: yesPhysiological Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 3, Page 526-536, September 2026.
First comparative study in oxidative stress between wild bees and managed bees. Bees collected from organic landscapes exhibited the lowest OX levels. Pesticide profiles were different among landscapes. Abstract Oxidative stress (OX) is a state of imbalance between antioxidants and reactive oxygen species, which are the byproducts of oxidative ...

The use of edible insects in human food

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 10, Page 5775-5787, 15 August 2026.
Abstract The world population is expected to reach approximately 10 billion people by 2050, which will significantly increase global food demand and may lead to agricultural shortages and a higher risk of food insecurity. In this context, this review discusses the potential of insects as alternative sources of animal protein, addressing their ...
