Teixobactin is a novel antibiotic that has been isolated from Eleftheria Terrae, a Gram-negative bacterium. It displays potent activity against Gram-positive bacteria, such as vancomycin resistant enterococci (VRE) and methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), both of which have been designated as serious threats to public health.
