The levels of telomere-binding proteins in human tumours and therapeutic implications

European Journal of Cancer, 2009
Tumours require telomeric integrity to maintain viability, conferred by adequate length of telomeric DNA replenished by telomerase, and binding of telomere-binding proteins (TBPs), thus telomeres have received attention as an anticancer target. Levels of TBPs in tumour tissue may have implications for drug development if they render some cancers ...

Human telomeric binding proteins recognizing single and double stranded DNA

International Journal of Oncology, 1996
Telomeres of human chromosomes consist of a repeated TTAGGG sequence, and at the terminal of this repeat sequence, the 3' strand is longer than the 5' strand. In this study, we characterized single and double stranded telomere binding proteins (ssTBPs and dsTBPs) by gel mobility shift assay and South-Western blotting assay.

[The role of telomere-binding proteins in carcinogenesis].

Minerva medica, 2001
Normal somatic cells have a defined number of divisions, a limited capacity to proliferative. The telomeres, sequences of TTAGGG repeats at the ends of chromosomes, are considered the direct responsible of the control of the cellular cycle. In fact, the progressive shortening of telomere length at each cellular division, causes the entrance of the ...

Characterization and expression analysis of the tomato telomere-binding protein LeTBP1

Plant Science, 2006
Abstract We cloned LeTBP1 cDNA that encoded a putative tomato telomere-binding protein. Sequence analysis revealed that LeTBP1 contained an open reading frame of 2067 bp and encoded a protein consisting of 689 amino acids with a predicted molecular mass of 77.0 kDa. The deduced amino sequence of LeTBP1 indicated that a myb-like motif, a structure

PRODUCING OF A RECOMBINANT DOMAIN OF TELOMERE-BINDING PROTEIN TRF2 AND ANTIBODIES TO IT

Biotekhnologiya, 2015
A nucleotide sequence encoding udTRF2 domain of the human telomere-binding protein TRF2 was cloned in the expression vector pET32a(+). The construct (pET32a-udTRF2) was introduced by transformation in a bacterial strain E. coli RosettaB- lue(DE3). The obtained E.

Analysis of telomere replication activities: telomerase and telomere binding proteins

1999
Abstract This chapter outlines the types of assays currently available for the analysis of two major classes of proteins important for telomere replication: telomerase, and telomere binding proteins. Since many of the other activities important for telomere replication, including DNA polymerases and helicases, are not necessarily ...
