View-Invariant Gait Recognition Through Genetic Template Segmentation [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2017
Template-based model-free approach provides by far the most successful solution to the gait recognition problem in literature. Recent work discusses how isolating the head and leg portion of the template increase the performance of a gait recognition system making it robust against covariates like clothing and carrying conditions. However, most involve

Efficient and Secure Cancelable Biometric Authentication Framework Based on Genetic Encryption Algorithm

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Various cancelable biometric techniques have been proposed to maintain user data security. In this work, a cancelable biometric framework is introduced to satisfy user data security and keeping the original biometric template safe away from intruders ...

Probing Ambiguous Base‐Pairs by Genetic Transformation with XNA Templates [PDF]

open access: yesChemBioChem, 2014
AbstractThe templating potential of anhydrohexitol oligonucleotides bearing ambiguous bases was studied in vivo, by using a selection screen for mosaic heteroduplex plasmids in Escherichia coli. 1,5‐Anhydro‐2,3‐dideoxy‐2‐(5‐nitroindazol‐1‐yl)‐D‐arabino‐hexitol showed the greatest ambiguity among the three nucleosides tested.

Two genetic codes: Repetitive syntax for active non-coding RNAs; non-repetitive syntax for the DNA archives [PDF]

open access: yesCommunicative & Integrative Biology, 2017
Current knowledge of the RNA world indicates 2 different genetic codes being present throughout the living world. In contrast to non-coding RNAs that are built of repetitive nucleotide syntax, the sequences that serve as templates for proteins share—as ...

Biasing AlphaFold2 to predict GPCRs and kinases with user-defined functional or structural properties

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Biosciences, 2023
Determining the three-dimensional structure of proteins in their native functional states has been a longstanding challenge in structural biology. While integrative structural biology has been the most effective way to get a high-accuracy structure of ...

Generating Loop Patterns with a Genetic Algorithm and a Probabilistic Cellular Automata Rule

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2023
The objective is to find a Cellular Automata (CA) rule that can generate “loop patterns”. A loop pattern is given by ones on a zero background showing loops.

Mechanistic and genetic basis of single-strand templated repair at Cas12a-induced DNA breaks in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Single-stranded oligodeoxynucleotides (ssODNs) are widely used as DNA repair templates in CRISPR/Cas precision genome editing. However, the underlying mechanisms of single-strand templated DNA repair (SSTR) are inadequately understood, constraining ...

Secure and Efficient Biometric-Data Binarization using Multi-Objective Optimization [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems, 2015
Biometric system databases are vulnerable to many types of attacks. To address this issue, several biometric template protection systems have been proposed to protect biometric data against unauthorized use.

Cellular Neural Networks-Based Genetic Algorithm for Optimizing the Behavior of an Unstructured Robot [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems, 2009
A new learning algorithm for advanced robot locomotion is presented in this paper. This method involves both Cellular Neural Networks (CNN) technology and an evolutionary process based on genetic algorithm (GA) for a learning process.

Evidence Supporting That RNA Polymerase II Catalyzes De Novo Transcription Using Potato Spindle Tuber Viroid Circular RNA Templates

open access: yesViruses, 2020
Transcription is a fundamental process that mediates the interplay between genetic information and phenotype. Emerging evidence indicates that RNA polymerase II (Pol II) can catalyze transcription using both DNA and RNA templates.
